Can someone explain to me how we are allowed to play Hands? We seem to have gotten the ok from the league to play a non top 30 player but on what grounds? I thought it had to be fairly special circumstances but we have plenty of fit top 30 players, including a hooker in Rein.
Could it be linked to a contract upgrade being sorted to make Hands top 30?
Personally, I really like the look of this bloke and he could well be a long term player for us.

It is interesting, I heard on the radio the other day that the NRL might of changed the way this top 30 situation works.
I though up until when I heard that he actually has forward utility value and thats why? But unsure for now, will try and find out.
I would assume we are locking him up, might announce him when we announce the X-factor.
I heard on TCT podcast that we are allowed to use development players from round 1, even they were baffled by it. Not sure how it all works and the NRL need to be more transparent for the fans. But i believe it will get to a point where Hands signs a top 30 deal til 2024 or 2025 anyway. He should be signed til 2025, so he can replace Hodgson. Hell, if Hodgson has an average year and Hands is better this year we have an option for Hodgson for 2024 in our favour so we can go with Hands who will be so much cheaper if we wanted to.
That's where I heard it! Typical NRL, so unclear with these things.
It an option both ways ( not sure how that works ), so here's here regardless. From my understanding if we decide he's surplus JH still gets to stay but at a much reduced rate. That's only my take on the ( both ways ) player / club option.
I thought for Mutual Option both parties have to agree. Though could be as you said that price drops if one doesn't agree.
I remember reading an article where JH said something about an option each way and depending on how it unfolded the contract amounts are varying , but he will be at Parramatta " regardless " for two seasons.
Yeah actually I remember that too Wizza, I'll try find and re listen now
we took a risk on JH and I would be almost sure the deal he signed would be appropriately negotiated to reflect that. Our administration gets a tough run on this site from time to time but I think they would of got this one right. I don't think JH had many options at all TBH.
He is still a great buy imo too. He has made a difference and will continue to, he handed hands his jersey and would no doubt have a positive influence on his development.
Playing with JH would be a massive learning step for Hands. Anyone who thinks otherwise has obviously never laced a boot in their life. I played reserves and then 1st grade in the local comp when I was still at school , I was a kid and the older blokes , not the younger guys , the older blokes were the ones I was shown the most from. The blokes that were at their best many years prior and were on their way down . They taught me the grubbier side of things and how to handle myself. The gamesmanship , and the tactical side of simply handling myself against hardened men.
