  • Great News! The little tank!

  • The Parramatta Eels have extended Brendan Hands’ contract for two years until the end of the 2025 season.

The hooker has played three NRL games for the Eels, including a try on debut at CommBank Stadium against his former Club in Round Four.

"I’m stoked to extend my stay here at the Eels, I’ve really bonded with the boys and it’s been exciting playing alongside them. I’ve only got a couple of games to my name but I’m enjoying finding my way into the team," said Hands.

"Josh Hodgson has been really helpful with passing on his knowledge to me and is really helping me develop my game. It’s a privilege to be working with such an experienced hooker."

General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill said Brendan is an important addition to the Eels squad.

“Brendan adds depth to the spine and brings plenty of versatility to our team. He has been impressive in his first three games of NRL and we look forward to watching his game develop over the coming years,” O’Neill said.

The 23-year-old joined the Eels in 2022 from the Panthers, where he played as a junior in the Harold Matthews, SG Ball, Jersey Flegg and the Knock on Effect NSW Cup.

Off the field, Brendan has achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sports Science, with three years’ experience training young aspiring athletes.

Brendan is set to make his fourth first grade appearance for the Eels on Sunday against the Bulldogs.

  • he is the future for our spine

    • Yes, he is one of the bright things that have happened for us this year so far! Smart move by the club, good work Mark O'Neill.

  • Good, now we have a player to develop for Hodgson's retirement in 2024. Of course we will have other options as competition, but hopefully we can get to 2024 with Hands having played by then around 40 games. We wont lose anyhting when Hodgson goes.

  • He has really stepped his game up this year, and its great to watch. I hope he develops a nice little kicking game to complement his progress.

  • Hodgson is already in his rear view mirror.

    • Very handy signing. Now i would like Hopgood locked up . I'm hearing from up north the finnies are doing some sniffing around

      • Not sure why as Tom Gilbert is their Hopgood. Gilbert is an 80mins Lock, where do you put Hopgood?

        • Gilbert is not the ball player hopgood is, it's not hard to figure out why they would want hopgood.

"If Papalii returns to cup, I would move Lorenzo to 14 in cup. However, I assume most games Lorenzo would start at 6 because Papalii will be on the NRL extended bench and therefore unable to feature in cup."

"You state you'd put Papalii at 6 in Cup if he can back up (which I am neither for or against) but how will Talatiani develop into our 6 if he isn't playing there?
Surely the club has to play him at 6 in cup on a regular basis to gauge how he fits…"
