Channel 7 have reported that Parramatta Eels star Will Hopoate is set to take his club to the supreme court over pay dispute. The report is that "his lawyers filed action late this afternoon, they're fighing over the value of his new contract that hasn't been registered with the NRL to avoid a salary cap breach."It is believed his three year contract is worth $800,000 a year and Channel 7 stated Hopoate "wants his $2.4 million in full and rejected a reduced counter offer today worth $500,000 a season."Brad Arthur spoke to the press and said it's down to "our club management and Will's management." It seems certain that the Blues player will leave the Eels at the end of the season and is "already in talks with Melbourne, Manly and the Bulldogs."

  • $800k a year that's ludicrous
  • 800 its a gee up surely ?
  • We are deadset farked.
I have never seen such an unprofessional administration at a club. Sharp has his moustache dirty over this and if he says he didn't know nothing about it he is full of shit. When will the prick F off.
    • I'm not a fan of Sharp, but in saying that, I applaud him for standing his ground here. For starters, Hoppa isn't worth anything above 500k a season, but that's beside the point.
The whole situation comes down Parramatta refusing to register his contract with the NRL because if they do, they will breach the salary cap. Everyone is aware that if we breach it next season, there will be harsher penalties and a guaranteed loss of completion points. We have done everything the NRL has asked of us when it comes to fixing our salary cap mess. We would be fools to put our selves back over the cap after all the hard work we have done over the last 3 months to fix the mess.
We are just doing what the NRL has asked of us, so Hopoate and his management have to come to terms with that, and if they don't like it, then leave.
    • I agree Tank and I think it was old Pricky Stuart who whispered in their ears, "This kid is worth it!"
  • It is understood that Channel 7 knows jack shit. Lol all of sudden a whole bunch of clubs are lining up for Will's services, after it was said that no one has any cap space left.

  • Beat up
  • I thought Mormons aren't motivated by $$$$. Well he was a Hopoate first and we know how much of a great human his father is. Apples never fall far from the tree.
  • Let it drag out and out for years, parra have a lot more money then hoppa does.
    • No hoppa we are not a charity !!!! Stop milking us . You are a very ordinary player worth average coin . Deal with it .

"I think Braith respects Ryles as a coach and what he's doing at Parra and obviously believes Lomax did the wrong thing, listened to poor advice and brought this all upon himself and did the wrong thing to Parra"
