Breaking News: no more NYC after next year

The NYC will no longer be a competition they will play in NSW Cup or Queensland Cup & no rookie draft which means we can keep Twal, Fuimaono, Aloai & Davis until they are contracted which is good so parra can't really stuff up with losing our juniors. Our wenty team in 2017 will be really strong as the Panthers who accordingly to Josh Massoud has the best junior nurserys

  • That's good, will strengthen the NSW cup back up and bring players through tat 21-22 instead of 18-20
  • We will need a suitable 3rd grade replacement. Would that be age based or just a 3rd grade? Will it mean the end of the Wenty association to play 2 grades on match days? Is there any news on the structure of the grades as yet?
  • I think there will be a under 21s NSW comp, and a reserve grade NSW comp.
This will lesson the travel expenditure and allow reserve grade to become the main lead in for aspiring players.
    • Everything old is new again? Back to the future? Amazing isn't it? This would be an ideal structure that funnily enough feels so familiar.
  • What NYC players are signed for next year??

    • I'm sure there will be.
  • Twal, Fuimaono, Aloiai and Davis are already contracted to the club.
  • Going back to the good Jersey Flegg and premier league. Hopefully it means all 3 games are at the same ground again.
    • Bit too young to remember the exact rules of Flegg but was it Under 21's or Under 23's? I hope they keep the new version of it to 21's.

    • Definitely no premier league, would be nice, but the clubs are complaining about having to pay for the travel and accommodation for 2 grades plus support staff interstate and to NZ when they play them. It would just mean that there's a NSW cup and under 20's NSW cup. Should cut down on a lot of the travel and mostly eliminate having to pay for accommodation for about 25 people each week.

Melb threw it up as a last roll of the dice. We went to Matto (mgmt) with their offer. He said 2yrs guaranteed or no dice. Melb then said - no deal."
