The issue I have with politics and society in general, is the lack of respect we and the media show our leaders and people in authority.
Not saying they are the best, but you don't run down your country.

Anyone and everyone has to earn respect. They don't gain my respect for the simple fact they have the three brain cells required to stack a local branch of the local party to then weasel their way to the top clawing over all the other weasels.
Only way he would gain my respect would be to give me back the half my wage they steal at gun point each year and then promptly resign.
Can't see that happening though.
We also can't expect better people to apply for the job when they're on a hiding to nothing.
The less prestigious the position is made to look, the calibre of applicant goes down.
Hell we voted in a guy who didn't even know what to do when he got into the senate.

I have no issue with Abbott confronting Putin on the MH17 disaster. However, I'd expect the leader of Australia to be a little more diplomatic, rather than say something that sounds more like it'd come from a 20 year old park football player. Seriously "I'm going to shirtfront President Putin. You bet you are... ahhh you bet I am." How does that cast Australia in the international community? It makes us a laughing stock and the Russians have basically laughed at us ever since he made that comment. Abbott would have been better off saying that he would confront Putin on the issue at the G20 and that he would request Russia's cooperation in the investigation.
The guy doesn't have charisma, but that doesn't mean he's not trying to do the right thing.
The media said that the Russian war ships were here because of Abbotts comments, absolute BS reporting.
The Russian Navy regularly travels with Putin, in the same way that the American air force and Marines travel with Obama.
Mate it was only the News Corp tabloids that said it. Those are the same tabloids that said our minor national debt was some sort of fiscal emergency and we were hanging over a cliff. Lesson, don't trust anything you read in the daily terror.
