Is Brad Arthur's finals record a concern?
He has won 1 from 7 in Finals Games resulting in a strike rate around 15%.
Is that good enough for what we need at our club now?
What is a pass mark for Brad this season?
Thanks,
.....Scott

I would say Parra's record in the finals is most certainly a concern. I don't put all the blame on the coach as this is clearly a whole team problem. Hopefully the club has looked at this in the off season with a view to try to identify why we are faltering at the back end of the season. Does it have to do with injuries, lack of energy, lack of focus, or are the competition just getting better than us? Is it the way the players are prepared? Do they lack belief? So many things to consider.
here ya go again on your one man crusade....hadnt played finals for years but now playing regularly but we need to dump the coach.
agreed that we need to improve and there has been improvement over the years but ditch the coach and start again....
We haven't improved at all, same players making same mistakes etc....
Yes we are now making the finals but that is when the real season begins and the pretenders roll over.

I think you need to look at each game to determine that.
In 2017 we lost to Melbourne 18-16 and then to the NQ cowboys 24-16. These 2 teams met in the grand final. No shame losing to Melbourne and NQ had an incredible run thanks to Michael Morgan playing out of his skin. Are these 2 games a concern? I don't think so, if anything I think we overachieved that year.
In 2019 we belted the Broncos and then got soundly beaten by the Storm who were minor premiers. We had finished 5th a good 12 points behind Melbourne. I don't think anyone expected us to win that game but it was disappointing we got belted but having a young spine would be part of the problem that year.
In 2020 we got beaten by eventual premiers the Storm 24-16. We started really strong and were leading early but lost both wingers to knee injuries. We then had to go into the Souths game without our regular wingers and had Jennings suspended shortly before the game. We lost but lead early and it was a brave effort by an understrength team. If Cook had been sin-binned for his blatant professional foul we may have gotten away with a win. A disappointing loss but again not unexpected considering the late changes to the team we had to make.
That's 6 games not sure what the 7th is.
Sorry for wanting the best out of my club.
If anything, I'd guess your not a true Parramatta supporter because you don't want success.
Success is winning, winners like Bellamy don't make excuses, they just get results.
Blame injuries all you want but where was the depth? Where was the blooding of youth or reserves throughout the season in case of an emergency??
Thats right there was no Plan B from Brad at all, he just copy and pasted the team list every week.
Brads poor management skills were found out again.
Thanks again,
Scott
Scott,
In his first three finals campaigns, Bellamy's record was 3 wins and 3 losses - and they made ZERO Preliminary Finals or Grand Finals. Hardly a much better record than what Arthur has overseen, and considering he has had to build a squad he wants twice in the space of 5 years, he is going OK.
Yeah, Bellamy made no ecuses. He just worked with Brian Waldron and started systematically rorting the salary cap to win premierships.
Iamnot, I'm not concerned about what Bellamy done, we are talking about Arthur.
Even if you wanted to compare the two, Bellamy is still striking at near 33% better over those first 3 finals attempts.
My concern is that we made the finals 4 seasons ago but have not moved past the 2nd week of the finals.
We are no better than we were 4 seasons ago.
Scott.
You outright compared Arthur to Bellamy. Now your flawed opinion that 'Bellamy doesn't make escuses' has been called into question, you just want to forget Bellamy? Yeah, keep going digging that hole for yourself. As others have said on this post, it is yet another meaningless post about our teams coach, only the 153rd one of them for the past 12 months...
Your making excuses for failure.
Our finals record is a genuine ongoing problem we have at the club.
I'd hate to see your standards in life.....
Scott
This comment makes absolutely no sense.
In his first three years of coaching finals, Bellamy won 3 games, lost 3 games. So a win rate of 50%. Melbourne did not get past second week of the finals in any of those years (2003-2005).
In his first three years of coaching finals, BA has won 1 game, lost 6 games, giving him a win rate of 17%.
My origonal comment said that Bellamy's record was not much better than BA's in his first three years of finals football, and that is right, particularly given Bellamy could not get past the second week of finals until his 4th attempt at coaching in finals, and after they started systematically rorting the salary cap to build a rep quality team.
