Sacked Parramatta Eels coach Brad Arthur has accepted a short-term deal to coach Leeds in the UK Super League.

He will leave for the UK this week and coach the struggling club for the remainder of the season.

Arthur knocked back a longer-term deal because he wants to pitch to be the inaugural coach of the Perth Bears, expected to be announced soon as the NRL’s 18th franchise.

Arthur’s wife is originally from Perth. There is talk he has already been approached by officials from Perth and the Bears about taking on the role.

There is also talk he would make Eels five-eighth Dylan Brown his first marquee signing.

Brown has clauses in his contract that would make him a free agent from next year.

The Perth Bears are expected to enter the competition in 2027.

Arthur has only agreed to the short-term job in England so that he can be back on the ground in Australia to get planning underway.

Leeds recently sacked Aussie coach Rohan Smith, the son of veteran coach Brian Smith.

Leeds are currently 7th in the 12-team competition with 10 weeks left in the season, and host London on Sunday morning (AEST).

They then meet the Sam Burgess-coached Warrington side next week.

Leeds’ roster includes former NRL players Lachlan Miller, David Fusitu’a, Paul Momirovski, Brodie Croft, Matt Frawley and Rhyse Martin.

Can't wait for bushies chase the collision interviews

    • guess what guymer did that everyone loved so much? he chased the collision

  • Matt Arthur off contract 2026, fits nicely.

    • Boods will turn out to be another Jake.  Jake won't find another team afre he's sacked from manly.  Maybe under ba in England

      • You love MA nickname Chief! Lol

      • Think so Chief - looks like the talent scouts at our club have overrated yet another jnr 😂😂😂.

He is just too slow around the ruck and too small to make it IMO - dad can have him.

He moves a bit like Harry Grant only at a tenth of his speed.

  • hope he takes 5-6 of these players who are struggling to free up cap space 🤣

  • I wonder if Jake will seek a release from Manly.

Going to England and playing for his dad is the only way he will get a first grade gig.
