  • B - but we need to start producing against the top clubs

The Broncos game will test were they really are, and there'll be absolutely zero excuses for a big performance.

We're at home, and we'll rested through the two byes so short turn around won't be considered.

Our pack is virtually full strength and we can cover Guth with Auva'a and Hoff - it's not like other teams are full strength.

Our mistake rate against the Tigers was appalling, and it must be fixed asap
  • I'll give him a B, we have done well to be where we are with all the injuries.

I'm marking him down for his refusal to drop the over the hill captain, the bloke is a embarrassing dope on the field these days.  His welfare has to be an issue i saw him drop like a spud on sunday with no-one even close to him.

Come on BA make a tough call tap the skipper on the shoulder, not too hard though he might need an HIA.

  • I'm going to be a harsh marker here, and give a C+. Using the info from your other blog today, yes we have 9 wins from the past 12 games, but when you break it down I don't believe it's as good as it looks.

Of the 9 wins, 6 have come against teams out of the top 8. We have also beaten the Dragons, who we seem to have the wood over of late, and we beat the Storm without their origin players. The other victory came against the Cowboys without Thurston.

You could argue that the wins over the Storm and Cowboys were still against pretty high quality teams, and I'd agree with that. The thing I find more concerning is our failure to nail some of the lower placed teams. We really haven't put anyone to the sword, yet we copped pretty comprehensive thumpings from the Roosters and Cowboys during that run. Don't get me wrong, i'm happy that we are winning and in the 8, it just concerns me that we've been blessed with a dream draw and haven't really shown anything against the top teams. This weeks match against the Broncos will really tell us where we are at.

  • A- , he has made a few decisions re.positional changes that we all called for, Jennings swap and Guth to the back and has done well during injury crisis , first final in 9 years and got Moses over, well done i say.
    • dude we were calling for Jenko to be moved over to the right ever since he arrived, and any fan could see Guth belonged at the back. all BA does is get his coaching tips from this forum. but yes, he got Moses over, so ill give him that.

  • The broncos game will be the real test
If we can beat them then we are the real deal if not it's back to square one again
Broncos are almost at full strength. Eels have a good record against them too..
Gutherson is a loss, but we do have a pretty good back ups this year either Avau'a or Hoffman can fill the void...
I think Big Frank Pritchard is back this week too
  • I'd say at least a B just for getting the Eels in the 8 especially considering the injury list. I think Brad Arthur has done a fantastic job this year and since he's been at the helm. Hope he stays at the Eels long term.
  • Considering the eels started the year without a recognised first grade halfback you can't give him any less than an A to have the team 2 points out of the top 4 with 6 rounds to go
  • Covering Guth sheesh, since the positional switch the man has virtually carried the team. Not sure the fill in guys will have that effect. B-

    • Fong I agree with some of but it isn't all true.
We have beaten teams above us. It does not matter if they were weakened or not as all teams including ours has players out every week that's just the NRL.
We have only been touched up twice once against the Roosters and once against the Cowboys. Every other game I can remember we were in with a chance of winning.
Both Melbourne and Cowboys have been belted this year as well by teams like tigers.
Nobody can say with any confidence that we would not stand up against a good side at full strength right now as it's been a few weeks since we've played one of those teams.
Many teams above us have struggled against the tigers as did we so there is nothing new there.
I think the biggest issue is that there is so much difference between our best and worst footy. We need to ensure that we find a way to close this gap ala melbourne, sharks, roosters. Then we can think of doing finals damage.
B.A. Gets credit for mine for the recruitment of Moses.. This move is why we are in the position we are in (along with the form of Gutho). Solid B I would think is probably fair. C- seems very harsh. But hey that's your opinion mate.
