Bludging on the blind (Attitude Problems)

NRL on FOX highlights a moment in the Parra v Tigers game where 5 eels players are caught bludging on the blind side and abandoning the rest of their team which lead to a Tigers try.

The Eels have no desire to win
This is galaxies different to the work horse team that the Eels were last season, arm wrestling teams and punching above their weight. I honestly believe that this is a psychological effect that Jarryd Haynes return has had on the team. Media calling Haynes return, "The return of Parras prodical Son" and all that.
Then Haynes lack of fitness at training and still getting picked for 1st grade sends a message that talent beats hard work when it is supposed to be the other way around.

Combined with the gravity of Jarryd hayne's star power, he is like a black hole that sucks the life and desire out of a team ESPECIALLY at Parra because all these new boys we bought over the past few seasons were proud that they lifted the team out of the Jarryd Hayne era of laziness and poor attitude and it took years to accomplish it and to have all that overlooked and over shadowed by the so called "return of Parramattas Prodical Son"  "the messiah".... It must be incredibly deflating for those players who put in all that hard work over the last few years to be seeing Haynes star power dominating headlines and to be the talking point of the team leading up to the season.

Not to mention the special treatment he recieves because of his talent.
Its like, "I dont need to slog my guts out like the rest of you because im a better player than all of you"
Very deflating for the boys

The boys know that if anyone else wasnt match fit, they wouldnt make the 1st grade side.
Everyone besides Hayne

And as a result, i think the boys are so deflated and lost all that former desire they used to have and that took so long to aquire

The question is... Who do we blame for this?
I dont blame the players, and i dont blame Hayne as much as i blame our recruitment staff who should have seen this coming. We should have only been moving forward, not going back to the past. And Hayne was the past. And now we have been transported in a time machine back to the Parra of old

Thats how dense the gravity of Jarryd Haynes star power gravity is.
Its a black hole and destroys anything it touches

  • 1) None of this has anything to do with Jarryd Hayne. That's total rubbish. Hell even Ikin & Kent didn't blame or even mention Jarryd for that. We know how much Kent "loves" Jarryd.

    2) Taken in isolation this can be painted as players bludging, but in reality this comes back to how much juice we are having to spend defending because we keep on turning over possession. It's the same problem, everything comes back to turnovers.

    Possession is king !

    • Brett, the amount of energy the team expends has nothing to do with players bludging.

      The problem is Brad Arthur..

In nearly every interview after a loss, Brad usually brings out the possession stats as we all know. Then he points out to the media that when a team doesn't have it's fair share of possession, Arthur stresses it gets "very hard' to compete because of fatigue

Now the coach should never ever be giving the teams excuses not to be busting their asses for 80 minutes, but brad gives the team an out because we didn't get 50% of the ball. Its a disgrace brett and its another reason Arthur needs to be Axed asap.
      • That's not excuse making Chief, that's making it very clear where we are going wrong, you know actual coaching. There is a very clear difference between an excuse and a reason.

An excuse says "It's not your fault, this is out of your control."

A reason says "This is why this is happening, if we fix this we give ourselves a chance."

I challenge you to find anywhere where Brad has laid the responsibility at anyone's feet other than the players. Ever. I guarantee you won't find one.

        It's a completely different message.

But that's not what you want to hear is it Chief ?

It doesn't fit with your prejudice.

    • Why are they lazy this year and such work horses last year?!

Saying its got nothing to do with hayne and his attitude at training and special treatment is YOUR opinion and not a fact
      • Firstly, I illustrated that the supposed “laziness” was not laziness but exhaustion from having to do much defence, which is as I have said repeatedly is a by product of poor ball security. We are 16th in the league in possession, actually we’re probably 17th tbh.

Saying that Hayne’s training habits or that he gets special treatment is also not fact, just YOUR opinion.

  • I agree with most of that
  • Watch the replay again dude, Jarryd isn't playing.

      • exactly right Poppa... if it’s remotely true the others need to phone a friend and borrow some balls!

if my sons carried on like that sooking and blaming blaming and spooking I’d say the same thing.

      • Nah u just dont understand Psychology in sports.
And u cant see the pattern that happens to teams when Haynes around
Its all good, ur just not on my level whe it comes to sports psychology.
U never played sports so its not hard to understand why

    • Never said he was mate
