I know it doesn't seem like it now but you have to lose one to win one and this experience is going to do the boys and the squad the world of good.
It might seem like we can't challenge for the title next year but I think we can with a few key signings.
The guys that we are bringing are very good players and with a couple more key signings we will be back in the GF next year mark my words.
The signing of Hodgson is going to be one of the best signings in Parra history his leadership and big game experience is really going to help us and adds another strong leader to the team.
Hopgood and Murchie are future stars as well and BA will make them superstars mark my words.
The addition of Barrett is going to take our attack to the next level at all the clubs he has assisted with, they've gone to another level.
This is aided by Penrith and Melbourne both of whom are likely to be considerably weaker next year, coupled with the knowledge we can beat the likes of Sharks and Cowboys.
2023 will be the year of the Eel!!!

Yes!!!! Well said Sneaky, i mentioned in another blog, i was telling people around me before semi's and during semi's i felt 2023 was our year, making a prelim would confirm that and we made it, due to needing that next level.
Barrett is a massive in, look what he did with Cleary and Luai at Penrith in 2019 to 2020? Brown will have a proper halves coach there every day and every game unlike Ennis or Johns who pop up here and there. Hodgson, though two issues being fitness and he can be selfish with the ball, i think is very underestimated of a signing. Off the ball he will do wonders, he is creative and takes risks which is what this team needs. Mahoney did that a little bit with that kick to Simonsson but how much was a dummy half kick on the 4th needed from Reed last night to the corners? Hodgson is a cocky prick and we need that, he is a leader unlike Mahoney, he will talk and lift us. He has a point to prove to those who say he should retire. I am very boyish about Hodgson next year, i think it is a Jason Taylor type signing.
Hopgood is a meat axe, only thing is how could he not at least get a bench spot for Penrith? Was it cause he signed with Parra early in 2022 and Cleary thought screw you? Murchie not confirmed but is a working back-rower, nice bench addition.
What we do need is a middle on the bench, maybe two.
Cheers LB! Agreed Barrett is definitely the bloke to take us to another level. Surely we are looking at Angus Crichton still hasn't resigned with the Roosters. If we are able to poach him he'd be a massive signing for us and adds experience in big games. Dare I say we sign Andrew Fifita for one year as a bench prop I think he'd be a great impact for us.
Klemmer or Taupau could be nice options, Taupau would be cheaper in search of a premiership. Crichton apparently agreed to a Roosters extension as they found cap space (funny that). Hopgood i think will be the edge we use and he looks like a diamond in the rough.
Not much will change with BA. It'll still be 'chase the collision' regardless.
Exactly
and the one out plays
And the end over end bombs....
There's always next year..... x 36
Agree with the sentiment, but I think Penrith will be just as strong next and have some good players coming up they will fill the gaps. They're going to be hard to beat. Storm will have Simms, Paps and Welch back playing, can never write them off.
Penrith still have their spine in tact, they will be same. Only Canterbury below us are getting better, everyone else is reletively the same or worse. Roosters have a killer backline but forwards are ageing. Melbourne are looking tired and their forwards are getting an overhaul they are heading towards a rebuild.
I think the top 5 next year in no order is Penrith, Parramatta, Cronulla, North Queensland and South Sydney.
