Parramatta winger Blake Ferguson has missed the Eels' last three matches due to injury.

Ferguson has returned to training with the Eels after being rocked by a series of medical issues last month, which saw him hospitalised.

The NSW State of Origin representative hasn't played for the Eels since their round 17 win over the Wests Tigers, where he picked up a knee infection.

The 29-year-old was only meant to miss one week, but had an adverse reaction to antibiotics and spent time in intensive care with low kidney function.

He lost weight as a result of the setback, but has returned to complete light duties at Eels training this week and is expected to play again later this month.

"He's floating around there today. He's done a couple of days this week," Eels coach Brad Arthur said.

"He's getting better, putting on a bit of weight. Maybe we will get him around round 24, he will probably play.

"It will be a good boost for us. It will be good for him to get a couple of games in before the end of the year."

Ferguson's return will be crucial for the Eels.

In his first year at the club he has topped the running charts with an average of 157 metres per game, kickstarting Parramatta's sets with his powerful kick returns.

He has also scored eight tries and made 10 linebreaks, earning him selection back in Brad Fittler's series-winning Origin team.
