BIG STEP UP FROM NSW CUP TO NRL

I read alot about how we need to bring in Pele & Humble etc etc. I don't think too many people realise the massive difference between the quality of the NSW Cup and the NRL. The quality of the NSW Cup is honestly pretty ordinary, the worst it has been as a reserve grade comp for NRL teams. I personally believe the NSW Cup is not a suitable reserve grade competition for NRL clubs but thats probably best saved for another time. While I am sure changes will be made throughout the year through injuries, rep duty etc. I don't think these guys Pele, Humble etc running around for Wenty are ready for the NRL yet.

    • You might have a case to promote Humble to the bench to see if he can add the kind of spark Ben Barba does for the Dogs, but to suggest we need to promote Pele - a player who is incapable of much more than about 15 mins game time at NSW Cup level - would be foolish in the extreme. Particularly considering our forwards statistically outperformed the monstrous and much vaunted Raiders pack last night!
      • Agree

humble may be a possibility of a bench spot in a few weeks if we keep struggling or pick up an injury

pele has a couple in front of him. He isn't fit enough to play the minutes and intencity required in first grade.

Pat o'hanlon will prob get a chance towards the back end of the year - great prospect
  • You're obviously a madly passionate Queenslander who can't wait to see the local boy get a run. No doubt Humble will get his chance, but if he's not performing for Wenty - it kind of defeats your argument to suggest that because the standard of Qld Cup is closer to NRL than NSW Cup he should be promoted now!
  • With all due respect Tricky, you will forgive some of us for not being as 'ready' for Tom Humble as you are.

So far, the only posts you have made on our site have been on Tom Humble! Your favourite Eel is Tom Humble... is it just me or could you perhaps be a bit biased?

Don't get me wrong, I am really excited about Tom Humble, so much so that I have a slogan ready 'Let's get ready to Humble', but most believe he is not ready yet. I would rather him get his shot in a team playing confidently so he can gain some confidence in first grade. Further in a team trying to gel... bringing in more new blood could only be disruptive.

He will get his chance! Patience!! :-)
