been following the eels since I was 5 years old, now going on 42. last nights win would be one of the best efforts I have seen from the eels in my memory.
lost our leader and halfback with personal issues during the week, back up halfback out for the season. bang up steps everyone like nothing has happened, takka moves into the halves and got better as the game went on, semi played like a forward up the middle , Gordon goes off injured and gutherson goes into fullback and played the best he has all year. at the end of the game we had no one left on the bench and everyone on the field was stuffed but I saw something that I have not seen in the eels for many years, FIGHT and CHARACTER. this is what BA has bought to the club by recruiting what was needed with watmough even though hes not playing would be a influence of character and the toughness of scott and wicks is amazing and these guys are showing our young pack how to play under pressure.
all this amongst the salary cap dramas which the media drag out daily, shows what a team we have and us supporters should be proud of what we have. I am so looking forward to taking my kids to see them in a couple of weeks against the rabbits and they can see first hand what a team we have. ( my 4yr old was so happy he slept in hes eels jumper last night)

It was an ugly tough win - with all the reshuffling, missing Foran, as well as Meroa , our injuries during the game, where our bench was anniliated. At one stage we only had only Paulo (and an injured Gordon). Don't even mention that damn TPA cap issue we're embroiled in.
Ironically , we were disadvantaged over $2m of our cap last night (no Foran, Watmough, Meroa, Gordon & Mannah half a game) !
I dare say not too many Eels teams since the late 80's could of found a way to overcome those odds.
BA is also one of our best coaches in memory. I rate him higher than Smith. He also deserves a lot of praise for the culture he's helped built. Rare to see coaches 3 & 5 year plans actually start to pay dividends.
I have been a proud supporter of the EELS since 1963.
In the game when your legs are burning and your head is swimming, you look around to your team mates dragging themselves off the floor and throwing themselves against the next wave only to be pummeled and bashed and then seeing your effort to do the same, instills a belief you can do this for your mates and you all rise together.
Courage in the face of adversity was on display to everyone. All the teams are now looking over their shoulder at the bulldozer coming for them.
The EEL's have finally arrived!!
Shhh...I shed a little happy tear at the end of that game :)
Not sure if it's coz I couldn't breath for the last twenty (relief) or just so happy to win after all that's gone down.
If there ever was a coach in the history of the game that's earned every last cent it's BA, wave after wave of crisis.
His half time pep talks are working a treat on a team of his choice too.
So many of these guys were given another chance to make it by BA and are playing like they appreciate that.
Their mateship shows and have no doubts they lifted the extra notch for FoZ, BA and us of course :)
What about Gutherson? so very young
so much talent and brilliance, it is
like, the more pressure the better
he's play's, as he will become so
very much better and stronger! I can only hope'? That Gutherson will stay put
with the Eels for ever.
As Taka played very well! They all
were super star's last night! As
when ain't the Eels the best team?
That's why I have been with them
since a very young age, since my my
Mum was following them.
As I lost my Mother 3 years ago!
Also Kieran was suppose to be gone
after the match as did
surprise "Cheers", and a congratulate
his players and coach", I was
well informed about! Foz
apparently also stated that the
team is sending him out with a
good loving win. Foz felt a very
happy", they would and spoke
Foz a while, then straight to the
airport, as between 11p.m. last
night Kieran had been booked
on a flight, to go to the best
rehabilitation center to where he
can get the best Doctors and
real help!
