Best live aussie band you've seen?

This guitarist blog has me fired up. I have my faves, some are the obvious ones, but I'll begin with the best gigs ever then give an honourable mention or two.Best ever was Hunters and Collectors farewell tour gig at Parra leagues. The boys from Midnight Oil joined them onstage for a version of Know your Product. What a wall of sound that was.Close second was an impromptu unannounced gig by Cold Chisel for their circus animals tour. I'd gone to parra leagues to pick up my pay and they announced that Chisel would be on in an hour. The auditorium was only half full as nobody knew it was on. They just used stage lights, and over two hours played all their songs and a heap of covers. Barnes went nuts at the end leaping onto tables still up from bingo and charging into the audience. Words wouldn't do it justice.Fave unsigned band was Mad Gorilla. Had this impressive stage show where they presented something like a horror movie.Honourable mentions to Radiators, The Church, Flowers, Mentals, Mi-sex(I know they were kiwi), and more recently You Am I.Hope this blog brings back memories of a time when you could see Aussie greats close to home at a local pub or club. Great times.

  • Tumbleweed at the Lansdowne used to rock, so did You am i and powderfinger.

But the Oils get my vote.

    • Oils, because they are a consistently good live band.

Powderfinger are like Hunters&Collectors. They can sound like the hottest band ever, but they have some off nights as well.

    • I got a boot to the nose from some crowd surfer whilst watching Tumbleweed at the Lansdowne. I also remember seeing them at St Pauls. I saw You Am I at UNSW.
    • Yeah I heard about Jay a few weeks ago.
    • Ron's daughters may not be from Australia, but Tasmania is still pretty close right?

  • Birds of Tokyo.

  • The Brain Zaps. Punk band from Sydney. They had girls in underwear come onto the stage and throw slime at everyone and then they poured some over themselves. Very fun to watch, not the best music but very good to watch.

    • Where's the YouTube link for them!
    • But you went to watch the brain zaps for their music right?
  • Liquid
