Best Center options for next week

If Opacic is out next week then what is your prefered center option:

1. DB: BA's prefered option but we lose a lot moving the in form 5:8th off the comp out of position into a spot he can fill but is not great at. We destabalise a performing spine and decrease our ability to retain DB at a decent price. If I am an opposition coach I would simply say come here DB and we wont disrespect you by pushing you out wide for a Rookie who aint near your level yet. What do we gain - just help JA develop- but this is inapprpriate as this should happen if and when DB or MM are out - not when both are available. This is DB breakout year as a 5:8 and he should be given every opportunity. It is not JA's time yet. Unless you have already decided to not resign DB - but he will be an elite half.

2. Carty: My prefered choice but some hate him. I do not think his defence is any worse than JAs and Carty has more class. Worse case scenario is Carty performs similar to JA, best case is Carty makes a big impact. I would like to see Carty with 80 min to pace himself and see if he can wait for the right moment. You really think our defence is worse bringing Carty into the team instead of JA?

3. JA: You want him to see first grade then put him in the vacant spot and I am happy. Think Carty would be better though.

4. Matterson: Ok hard to do this after he smashed in the middle last week. But could bring Grieg onto the bench and move RM to center - at least he gets 80 min.

Honestly I doubt any other coach would choose #1. What does JA add. We do not need someone to stand in the middle and pass the ball on with the opposition knowing he is not a running threat. His kicking is no better than DB and Gut. He adds nothing now. If we lose DB or MM then go for it JA and I will cheer for you. But otherwise you want in then JJA goes center.

  • don't see it changing till one of our backs are back or niko is

  • WEC , you are pronounced guilty by a jury of your peers of creating a blog under false title with intention to put shit on an NRL player , to wit Jakob Arthur .     You are sentenced to a prohibition order as follows :  YOU WILE E. COYOTE must refrain from continually  repeating insults directed to coach BA and /or his lineal descendants including JA . PENALTY: Option of you 1) either sending flowers to JA or 2) change to spreading shit on public forums to non Arthur family. .... P.S. I have read much worse insults here . LOL

  • Perham should be in the squad every week. 14 if everyone is fit... OR chosen in the spot we have no one left to cover if needed. If thats not possible Cini ran for over 200m at centre in NSW Cup. Your Option 1 absolutely should not be a consideration.

    • I think that Cini is a good option worth consideration. However he is not in the top thirty and Eels would require an exemption to play him in the NRL.

      • I thought the club got the exemption for Cini last week but didn't play him. Although I do agree with Snotie re Perham - he looks like he belongs in 1st grade and should play at 14 rather than JA. Let's see who BA names today given that Niukore will be available..

  • I'd be happy with option 2, but I'm also curious about how option 4 might pan out. He would be pretty dominant defensively, it just depends on how quick he is and whether he can create any opportunities while attacking.
