Bench

What is with BAs bench selections? We see players get five minutes, no minutes and absolutely bizarre selections.

we had a center on the bench? You can't tell me Nathan Brown would have had less impact on the game than Opacic. Browns hard running and agression was exactly what we needed last night.

  • Reality is we have no depth, we are one major injury away from a disaster.

    • We have depth, BA just chooses to not use them.

Wiremu El-Zak Ogden Loizou Rodwell Carty and the 17th player nearly every game

could in the first 3 min last nite that we were gone

Latrell will take bunnies to Finals at the expense of Eels when we play them again in a few weeks

      • I watched Reserve Grade a few weeks back and they were horrendous.

The only player that stood out was Ogden.

        • Greig looked better than Ogden, look at the Canterbury game, we were towelling them up through the middle with Ogden, Greig and Rodwell.

When they went off, we were dreadful.

Only issue is, our best bench so to speak atm is; Makatoa, Niukore, Kaufusi, Brown. 3 of the 4 will be leaving next year. We have Greig (3 NRL games), Ogden (45 NRL games but none in 2022), Rodwell (3 NRL games) and Jirah Momoisea (8 NRL games) lined up for 2023 bench spots.

Hopefully one will be a new Papali'i and surprise us, but Greig is the flavour of the month early last year then didn't hear from him until he was injured mid year.

Then this year also, on the bench twice, 18th man a few times, now nowhere near the squad. What does that say about him to the coaches. Ogden is signed til 2024 but is still on a development deal this year? He should be at least looked at on the bench due to having 45 games under his belt.

Lodge would have been a massive coup for our bench this year and in 2023.

    • I agree we don't have depth, but how do you justify Opacic over Brown?

      • I'm guessing he's made a decision regarding Brown and trying to stand firm with this?

Is his treatment of Brown behind the team's poor attitude?

        • Surely it is not attitude, but never know.

  • The selection of opacic over brown makes no sense. I'd say BA is punishing brown.

    • Yeah why Brown over some others?

  • We were lucky Souths lost two of their middles to injury in the first half

THis an internal matter for the Roosters, we can say that they have abbrogated their responsibilities, but that is something the NRL should deal with.
