Ben Ikin savages Eels & is on crack!

This confirms my suspicions. Ben Ikin is on crack. He may be the dumbest excuse for a reporter i've ever had the misfortune of reading/listening to.

BEN Ikin has savaged Parramatta for the hypocrisy of their stance that Semi Radradra should be forced to pay a huge sum of money to get out of his contract with the Eels.

The star winger is yet to return to Sydney after being given a period of personal leave by the club to return to Fiji to visit his unwell father.

Radradra was due back at training on Wednesday until the club belatedly extended his leave until their captain’s run this Friday in the lead up to what shapes as a crucial Saturday night clash with ladder leading Cronulla.

The longer Radradra is away from the club, the more likely it seems initial reports that he had walked out on Parramatta to take up a deal with Bordeaux in French rugby are on the mark, despite adamant denials from both the Eels and the player’s manager.

SIGN: The Radradra red flag that worries Sterlo

The suspicion that he won’t be back is strengthened by a Fairfax Media report that the Eels will seek $700,000 in compensation from Radradra if he fails to see out the remaining 16 months on his contract.

Ben Ikin, Ben Glover and Nathan Ryan talk about Manly and Newcastle’s roster rebuilds and how Parramatta should handle the Semi Radradra situation.

That report states $200,000 of that sum would be a fee for damaging the Eels’ brand, a contention that Ikin described as “laughable”.

“ ... I look at what has unfolded at Parramatta this year and I find that demand almost laughable,” Ikin said on Fox Sports’ NRL 360 on Wednesday night.

“That they want money for contract dollars yet to be earned by Semi and damage to their brand.

“You could not do any more damage to the Parramatta Eels’ brand.”

Ikin was also dumbfounded by the gall of Parramatta to run Nathan Peats and Ryan Morgan out of the club earlier this season to allow them to get under the salary cap, only to then turn around and make demands when a player puts them in a similar situation.

“As for Semi up and leaving and breaking contract; this is the same club through complete and utter incompetence, the mismanagement of their salary cap forced young Nathan Peats out of his contract that stood with the Parramatta club to move his family interstate,” Ikin said.

“Ryan Morgan (also) had to shift to Melbourne.”

Ikin’s co-host Paul Kent was equally staggered by Parramatta’s “ridiculous” approach to the Radradra situation.

“Parramatta want ... money that they haven’t paid him yet, that’s ridiculous,” Kent said.

“And secondly for damage to their reputation.

“This is a club that’s cheated the salary cap, who’s under investigation for match fixing, who just sacked their captain, who have players consorting with bikies, and they think this has damaged their reputation? Like seriously.”

  • This is only because Semi has been organising a broncos deal for 2018, Even Wayne is up in arms stating Semi shouldn't be banned from the game if he goes to QLD, anybody can read between the lines here.

    • makes sense. It's an almighty "protest" from someone who shouldn't care.

    • Snake if your mail is really strong about Semi to the Broncos in 2018 you should go directly to the press - it's illegal isn't it?

I know the 'journos' read this site but they obviously haven't picked up on the Broncos connection yet.

    • Snake, the fact that it has gone through your head 50 times how to get the Broncos for breaking anti-tampering rules just suggests how little there is in your head. There are no anti-tampering rules. It's that fact that explains the lack of anti-tampering dramas. That fact also casts doubt, either on the existence of your source, or the brain-power of your source, as if your source is so well-connected, why are they so unaware of existing NRL rules?
    • No one can negotiate with Semi besides Parra until November.
    • Jimmy is correct (in saying I am correct) :)
Col and Bup, as well as Snake, are wrong. Sorry Col!
The NRL contract laws abide by normal contract law provisions that provide for sanctions about enticements to break contracts. But Snake has been saying the Broncos are breaking anti-tampering rules by organizing with Semi for 2018. But Semi is entitled to do what he likes about his post-contract period.
The confusion enters because the NRL reserves the right to refuse to register an "early" contract.
None of this tells us anything about what Semi will or will not do, only that no rules prevent him shopping about. But the lack of rule breaking does cast doubt over Snakes melodrama
    • Snake, your reply says everything about your own insecurity and your anxiety about saving face than it does anything about me. I've got nothing invested in whether Semi is or is not leaving the Eels. I do not sniff around the club or associated entities as I have better things to do. So there is no one-upmanship at stake for me, but strangely, there is for you. I've said I have no inside anything, and that instead my objection is to vitriolic rumor mongering, which I have also clearly said is problematic because it is to join the media outlets muck-raking about the club. Setting aside your seeming fantasies about sexual activity with my rear end, which my bisexual wife would find an amusing thing but which leaves me uninspired, your perception that you've been giving it to me only shows one thing. That you're over-invested in your own melodrama. Your error about anti-tampering rules is no big deal, really, but what is a red flag is the self-as-hero narrative you wrote yourself into around that error. To be frank, your sincerity looks questionable. Tone is sometimes truth.
    • Snake, pithy replies only work when your prior reply had sufficient substance to answer a point. You can only bluster for so long before people start seeing through the BS
    • No, Snake, nothing gets past YOU. All tapping into all your mysterious sources, your finger on all pulses, all seeing, far into the future, right up everyone's ...
  • Thank fuck Semi wasn't allowed to play origin, that would have been a complete joke and a disgrace to everything it is to be a blue.
