Former NRL superstar and Dally M Medal winner Ben Barba is back in court on assault charges.

Barba is due to face a Queensland court on Thursday, but the details of the allegation remain unclear.

The 31-year-old will appear at Mackay Local Court following his arrest and charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.

"The likelihood of 2 long term injuries at the same time to both of our hookers is pretty low. It would be hard to entice an NRL experienced hooker to come and play reggies for us with no prospect of first grade save for injury to both topliners. …"
