Sydney Roosters vs Parramatta Eels at Suncorp Stadium, 4.05pm AEDT
Last week’s Eels team: 1. Clinton Gutherson 2. Hayze Perham 3. Viliami Penisini 4. Tom Opacic 5. Bailey Simonsson 6. Dylan Brown 7. Mitchell Moses 8. Reagan Campbell-Gillard 9. Reed Mahoney 10. Junior Paulo 11. Shaun Lane 12. Isaiah Papali’i 13. Nathan Brown 14. Makahesi Makatoa 15. Ryan Matterson 16. Oregon Kaufusi 17. Bryce Cartwright
Team Tips: Maika Sivo is back training on the wing and is a chance to return for his first game of the season after Brad Arthur said he would get a few troops back this week. Hayze Perham would be the unlucky man to miss out. Sean Russell will also bid for a return to the wing after overcoming a lung injury and will likely take Perham’s spot of Sivo is not ready. Solomone Naiduki is bidding for a return from a hamstring injury, but will struggle to break into the team that beat the Panthers.

I heard BA interviewed this morning on Radio TAB and he said Maika and Niukore are still a week away, but he will be giving them another week to prove he is ready to comeback, Waqa will be that last of that group to make it back, possibly a week later than the others.
It feels absurd that we are having this conversation of so many first graders returning (Sivo was a scoring beast for us, Niukore is hard to replace, even Waqa was operating with the best) and we just beat the reigning premiers while they were at full strength.
We know we have the gameplan to beat the Storm and the Panthers, we've shown it consistently now. But to do it with depth players...wow. We have come a long way.
I'd be ok with Russell on the wing for Perham. Nothing against Haze, he did a good job, but you definitely want a specialist winger when you can. Finishing a try is just too important and only specialist wingers have that timing and positional play down.
Yeah, you saw Hayze's inexperience on the wing against the Panthers when Lane put the grubber through. A professional finisher would've stayed in field on the putdown.
Likewise. Was a brave effort from Perham playing a position he clearly wasnt comfortable with, but Russell looks the better option for the wing. Hopefully Perham did enough to get a spot on the bench as the utilty.
I can't see a place for WAQA in the team anymore. I have Simonson over him on the depth chart on the wing let alone Sivo and Russell. And zero chance I would I want him back in the centres as he has no ideas how to defend in that position.
This
Who do you have in centre over Waqa though?
Ive read some shit on here in my day... this might take the cake lol
Hayze has done an amazing effort considering he's been played out of position. He has proved himself as worthy of first grade, but Russell is clearly a more capable winger.
