BA's use of Gower

David Gower has been an inspired signing this year. Thank you Brad. However, am I the only one here questioning the way that Gower was used. For mine, Gower is a real worker who does great defence around the ruck. So why did he get so little game time in such crucial games this year. By the time he came on against the Raiders there had been some real damage done around the ruck. Opinions?

  • He should be our starting 13 next year
  • Are we sure he isn't carrying a leg injury though?

  • this is what i thought as well....BA has been on another planet in  the last two games. very odd imo

  • Gower was definitely hampered by he's knee injury, and was noticeably limping at times.
    • Chief, it did look to be troubling him. I can't imagine BA reducing his game time for any other reason.

  • Prichard played awesome when he came but he gave him no hand time in 2nd half. Good reward ay.
    • Have to say, I would love someone to explain the reasoning behind that too Josh

  • Maybe BA didnt want them in the finals. Were a young team who haven't played 3 or 4 decent games in row. We were never going to take out top prize. Maybe he didnt want them to have big head syndrome next year, save injuries for next year, make them hungry, not burn the young kids out in their first full season. We've got a pretty decent injury toll already.

Maybe BA new a finals campaign would be more damaging to this team than beneficial.

    • No. That doesn't happen
Wasn't BA bringing Gower off the bench prior to his injury?
  • Totally agree! I've been whinging about Paulo starting over Gower all year, and you'd be hard fought to find someone who preferred Paulo starting. Joseph doesn't even rate a mention in my 2015 Eels side if we can snag Watmough and Wicks, I really hope we don't re-sign him (or pay much for him if we do)

"Agreed. I won't renew him no matter how well he plays. He was still sketchy yesterday. He is a good impact bench player against tired edges and Moses slipping him balls. "

"Hmmm. The only in would be Moretti for me. Maybe. I'd let him maybe have more time in reggies first. I'd keep Guymer.
So basically, same team. Yes even De Belin. I want De Belin to be in the team first few rounds then things will change IMO. Him…"

"The only change we need to make is Hopgood back to 13 and JDB to 18 man. Not sure why he needs a spot in the squad as he is only practically here for 1 year and really provides nothing more than what Hopgood or Doorey can do for 25min. Walker has…"
