Barrett presser,

Trent confirmed both Moses and Gutho are locked in and Matto is a chance of playing depending on how he pulls up today. Also by the sound of it Blaize is going to be in the 17 moving forward

  • Well that's disappointing that blaize is going to be in the 17 going forward,  there goes the development he needs playing fullback.

    • Yeah he basically out right said he can play anywhere on the field, I wonder if Blaize management is pushing for him to be in the 17 ? I do agree that newy cup and playing flb is best for his career growth.

      • Yea I think thats exactly the case. The club want him in reggies to develop as a fullback, but with his contract up in their air, they are finding a spot for him in the 17.

  • I'd say he is named in the 17 as cover for both Gutho and Moses. He'll get his chance at proper fullback development but for now he is needed to fill a role in the NRL squad, which must be a priority at the moment. This is all valuable experience for him.

    • Reckon that's right... could be issues with Mitch and/or Guth so I'd guess until they're 100%, he might sit as a 17. Insurance play.

If they were both right, he'd be a waste on the bench. The only waste now is if Mitch and Guth do get through fine... then not sure how you bring Blaize on. If it's one game as a just in case... it's ok I think... but then Blaize either needs to be in or playing in Reggies (assuming it can be determined what position he actually really is)... not a weird bench role to give him experience in sitting on a seat.

    • Asi can cover both gutho and Moses.  All they are doing is keeping talagi happy, don't let the kid and his manager dictate how you run the roster. If you don't see him as the future fullback then fine, play him off the bench but if the plan is to have him eventually take over from gutho in tge near future then he needs to learn how to play fullback,  you do that in reserve grade.

      • I'd say the thinking is that Talagi is ahead of Asi, and that's probably right. I get the point about learning fullback in Reserve grade, but there is plenty of time for that. Agreed though, there could be some level of keeping him happy, but I doubt that is dictating selections. Barrett doesn't even know if he has a job next year - he has nothing to gain by bowing to external pressures on selection.

  • I just hope they aren't coming back too soon for the sake of the team. Moses has a plate in his foot and Gutho's knee has been a problem for a while. Be catastrophic if they re-injure themselves.

    • Yeah I'm worried, plates are notorious for refracturing.

  • i wish the media give themselves and uppercut and stop floating his boat. He has made some silly mistakes
