BARRET GONE, NODDY GONE, OX IS THE 1?

As you all know barrets retired, kimmorely is expected to do the same at years end and take on a assisting coach with the dogs on $100k a year pay cheque, if he was to go 2 parra/canberra that deal will be torn up and will not have that chance again,.

sooooooooooo......looks like matty orford is our only hope left and to be honest guys, id rather ox then both kimmorely and barret, did use forget that he was the 2008 dally m player? also his form in england shows his playing some great footy, maybe just maybe he is the answer for us?

  • Ox won't be gettinga release from Bradford they have already said no.
So it's Morts and Robson. or is it?
    • Don't believe every thing you read in the telegraph. or should i say anything
  • he also was a parramatta jr so maybe there is a soft spot there
  • I agree with 1eyed you very rarely see players return from england early during a contract, i dont think we can offer him enough to want to. So we have ended up letting go kris keating mateo without having a set alternative five eight/ halfback.

I don't understand why they didn't just give Kris Keating a decent offer he played city/country this year how come our management can not see what everyone else sees in his potential, i agree that he hasnt performed that great this year but halves generally take a few years to get use to first grade. I look at the roosters halves carney and pearce that combination is probably the best halve combination in the comp if not now it will be in a few years we could of had. I'm ranting on but my final point is how the fuck did the bulldogs end up getting our best 2 halves that have come through the juniors in like ten years Hodkinson and Keating. We got screwed and bought mortimer and because they were chasing him we had to pay too much for him. Lucky we have Hayne otherwise we'd be up shit creek without a paddle.
  • The problem with Kris was, his manager priced him at a cost which he wasn't worth. He ain't a game breaker and never will be. I don;t think it's a bad thing we missed out on him, he ain;t worth what the Dogs are paying him, that's for sure.

Two inexperienced halves doesn't help us, we need someone to mentor Morts but then again, we could just leave the great ROBBO there, he does a fair job and takes the pressure off Morts.
    • Mate, I'm sorry that's rubbish. $200k would still make one of the lower paid halves in the competition and considering he can cover across 6,7,9 and 14 and has already represented for City, he's not a player you're not going to get value from. Keep in mind even at that salary he's getting $50k+ less than other blokes his age like Mortimer and Hodko and I'd argue very strongly he's shown more than either of those two players.

Robbo is solid and if paired with a skillful five-eighth, it would be a decent combination. But Robbo and Morts are pretty similar in style - solid, tenacious but neither know how to put a man through a hole and neither have a go-to kicking game. In the end that is going to cost us, as it did last year.
  • I hope we don't sign him, Robson is going ok and they have been disrupted a bit this year in there for whatever reason. I thought the Dally M Medal went to the best player in the game for that year- Orford wasn't even the best player at Manly !!!!!!
  • 100% agree!!.... Robbo is as honest as the day is long but he and Morts are similar in style. I still think Humble could be the skill full half or 5/8 we need. Yes I think Robbo and Morts are having their best dig but in the end I agree it will cost us. I don't think it matters if you have a steady half and brilliant 5/8 or visa versa, look at the Broncos, Lockyer is brilliant and Wallace is steady, look at the Dragons, Hornby is steady and Soward can be quite brilliant, the Tigers have the brilliant Marshall at 5/8 and who knows at half (changes every week).
We just need at least one of our halfbacks (5/8) to have a passing game, fast feet and an attacking kicking game that doesn't kick the ball too deep or down the fullbacks throat, gee that drives me nuts when they continually kick the frigging ball down the fullbacks throat, the ball needs to hit the turf!! aghhhh!!
