Bailey Simonsson appreciation post

I was very critical of Bailey Simonsson and his efforts on the wing mostly justified criticism but my goodness hasn't he made a difference at centre he showed glimpses of it in the semi final last year but the last month and a bit he's added another dimension to the team in attack and defence aswell as getting in and doing the hard work out of his own end I'm very impressed with him I might finally  be able to move past Tom Opiciac.

  • Yep, I'm in agreement with that.

  • Yes definitely found his position.  We really don't need to be looking at a top line centre now imo. Well done Bailey Simmonson

  • He's been very good once moved to centre. That's his spot!

  • Simmo has great speed which he showed for his try. but more importantly he has the physicality for centre. The prior centres before him (Blake and Russel) were arm grabbers. Simmo loves to hit hard and use his shoulder. He makes good defensive decision recently. He is still making a couple errors a game which hopefully he fixes with more time at centre. He is a postive energising runner for me. His meters per game has significantly improved since moving to centre. I cannot believe he did not start the year at centre like I was calling since the dawn of time

    • Yeah defensively is the big plus for mine. I always look at a centres defence first and attack second. Simmonson reads the play a lot better than Blake and is a much more effective defender.

  • He's found his spot for us, he never really looked comfortable on the wing, but he has the same kind of solidity that Opacic had there last year.

  • Yes I love Simmo in the centres. He just looks confident and puts in all game.

If he can keep growing in confidence then I think centre is sorted... we just need some speedy wingers and the backline is sorted.

  • Bailey has an option for 2024, hope he takes it. He is steady and that is exactly what we needed. Will is our strike Centre, Bailey just needs to be stable.

I feel the left side is his go, he looks more comfortable in his movements

  • I like that he has enough speed that you don't think they will run around him. He's been going well at centre, a lot on here death rode him which was un-warranted.

    • It was very much warranted when he was on the wing.

For a winger, he makes an excellent centre.
