Backline defence

Boy we were lucky with that one!!

Do the Eels like to keep their fans on the edge of their seats?
Conceding 14 point in 12 mins. and then coming from behind to win!

So luck was on their side.

To their credit, the players kept their composure and the new guy Blaize did well.
However the backs still have to some work to do in defence in light
of Manly scoring 14 points in 12 mins.

I don't get this, their backline defence was good in the first two games, so what was going on there?
It looked like poor communication from my spot in the loungeroom.

  • With their forwards playing like that they are very hard to stop as a team

    We were very lucky

Manly at home against Penrith wow

Don't know if they can keep going

  • Whatever BA has done with Penisini and Russell, he needs to duplicate on the other side.. i think Simmo returning as centre is huge for us

  • if the ref didn't step in they were gona put 50 pn us

  • It's not about luck, it's about possession

Leading up to Manly's second try we had no ball. We gave away 3 penalties a set restart plus made a couple errors. It doesn't matter if the match just started, if a teams doing all the tackling they're going to get fatigued. Once the defence is compressed the edges are always vulnerable to a quick shift.

Manly are better at attack than defence, if they get a lot of ball they're always going to be dangerous.

  • Lane is our issue on that edge he is lazy and can not get across. As a point of difference he can be good in attack, admittedly he hasnt hit his straps yet. Ive rewatched a fair few games and he is without doubt a lazy defender, Brown defends on the same side but cant cover verything. In saying this at 14-0 down we scored 28 they scored 10 but we can do better, needs an absolute rocketor a rest

    • Ever since he left Manly, Lane has had an absolute shocker against them. It's almost that they know him inside and out. If you go back through the years comments after each Manly game you will find the comments regarding his performance.

I would be very tempted to give him the game off whenever we play Manly, such is his ineffectiveness.

  • Harper is worse than Waka Blake.

Why can't our shit coaches get the winger to stay on his man, this is under 8's shit.
