I think most if not all father's would feel the same.
Highly likely this matter will not settle until around 1 to 2 weeks from the Trial if at all. The vast majority of civil matters settle on the court appointed mediation day or within a couple of weeks after that date. From memory this date has long past. As the matter gets closer to the Trial date the offers of settlement (financial compensation to Hoppa) will dramatically increase so it is not in Hoppa's financial interest to settle until very close to the Trial. If Hoppa strongly feels he has morally been hard done by he may want the matter to go to Trial to have his day in court and to set a precedent (it may be more then money for Hoppa).
Its always about the money Dave ;)
Civil litigation generally is. He may also want to teach the club a lesson and stand up for all players against their employer and set a precedent in the NRL.
