BACK LINE BATTLE NEXT YEAR???

Hey Guys,i cant seem to wrap my head around the lineup of our backline next year when Tahu comes back, not to mention there are a few to many choices especially when all the boys are performing so well at the moment. Who do you think will go? what do you think the lineup will be?

  • 1. Jarrod "The Greatest" Hayne (No explanation needed)
    2. Luke Burt (Great player and his kicking is why I have him starting)
    3. Kristan Inu (We all know how he plays when Timana is there)
    4. Timana Tahu (On his day is as good as anyone)
    5. Eric "Guru" Grothe (Deverstating runner and has improved his defence)
    6. Daniel Mortimer (The pup is the future)
    7. Kris Keating (Lots of skills and a great combination with his brother)
    8. Fuifui Moimoi (Demolition man start him off and bring Cayless on when he needs a rest)
    9. Matt Keating (See comments for Kris)
    10. Justin Poore (A great addition to our prop rotation)
    11. Nathan Hindmarsh (Mr. Parramatta)
    12. Shane Shackleton (Can play well when he has the motivation, he's back row partners should supply that)
    13. Feleti Mateo (The best offload artist in the game, when fit he will lead the team to victory)
    14. Joel Reddy (The 2nd hardest working player in the team and only left out of startiing due to Burt's Kicking)
    15. Nathan Cayless (Aging warrior who will play as hard as he can until he can't move anymore)
    16. Tim Mannah (Big, young and hungry, with the influence of Cayless Moimoi and Poore should turn into a rep player)
    17. Ben Smith (Great back up for backs and forwards)
I know we have a long history of a back up hooker but I believe that Keating is an 80 minute player.
    • Yeah we have astrong lineup, how do you think keating and mortimer will go together?.
no todd lowrie? he just hit form lol

and i agree with you on Matty K being an 80min player so no need to bench a hooker.
      • sorry mate, you cant drop reddy! but its a hard dilema. i hear grothe may be on his way to japan
        • I would rather grothe go to japan and keep reddy in the starting lineup. reddy doesnt come out of the line and miss easy tackels lol
    • Here is my line up for 2010

      1. Jarrod Hayne
      2. Luke Burt
      3. Joel Reddy
      4. Timana Tahu
      5. Kristan Inu
      6. Daniel Mortimer
      7. Kris Keating
      8. Fuifui Moi moi
      9. Kevin Kingston
      10. Justin Poore
      11. Nathan Hindmarsh
      12. Shane Shackleton
      13. Feleti Mateo
      14. Matt Keating
      15. Nathan Cayless
      16. Tim Mannah
      17. Ben Smith

      18. Joe Galuvao
      19. Eric Grothe
      20. Jeff Robson
      • gulavo signed with manly
  • Hayne at fullback
Inu and Tahu combination on the left - Cannot wait for this combination again!!!
Reddy and Grothe on the right

I love Burt as much as the next supporter guys but he's old, not that fast, small and cannot help out on the kick returns. He's not the winger you need in todays game. He had an outstanding game yesterday but Inu can kick for him next year.

I hope some Superleague team is smart enough to pick him up cause he deserves it, but you just can't see him knocking out Grothe, Hayne or Inu
  • over the last 2 years, Joel Reddy has been our most consistant players. I think he has earnt his spot in the starting line up. I know DA is a big fan of his so i doubt you'll see reddy losing his spot.
  • Burt easily has another good year for us ,he's not that old. He;s fast enough ,and an intelligent kicker of the ball.I think he has improved significantly over last 6 or 7 games, and has a new lease of life in him .He was chasing right to the death on Sunday, and he is the best kicker we have(sorry Inu) .Grothe has come very strong as well, but still worry about his consistency going forward.
    • Keeping the 6 backline players together is the most sensible option. We know Tahu is injury prone and is likely to miss a few games here and there. To not have a ready-made NRL standard replacement would be extreme folly.
