While every team took their youngsters and flashy speedsters to the 9s, Brad Arthur had something else in mind. And that is DEFENCE!!
Already knowing we boast great talent in attack, this was not of any of his concern. He used the 9s campaign as a defensive training drill. He took the majority of his first squad players and trialed defensive structures in a open field game. We were the best defensive team in the 9s comp, we didn't win anything but what we came out with what was the confidence and ability to breakdown, scramble and defend quick open play.
BA you bloody Genuis, we love ya!

Moral of my point is that he utiilised the 9s campaign as best as he can to gain a head start on the comp and what he did back then is paying off now.
Nice article Pauly, rings true to me
What year was this?
