BA tries something different.

He has been criticized for his pick and stick mentality, but last night BA mixed things up.A struggling Lane benched then moved into the middle, and Paulo off the bench. Also our attack was way better, going right instead of left, short onstead of long, it was refreshing and good to see BA trying something different. When Nuikore comes back does he start and Evans goes to the bench, is Lane dropped altogether, was Jnr good off the bench or a waste? Maybe RCG would be better coming on after 30 for impact? Did the experiment work, have y'all got any other bright ideas?

  • I think it was good. Took some players out of their comfort zone and made them aim up

    • No thanks hes too big and slow for halfback. Best doing what hes doing.

  • Very slight turn of the titanic.

  • My thoughts; leave Davey on, Lane goes to bench.Start Evans , he seemed more comfortable and didn't try to push passes etc.Jnr starts and Gillard comes off the bench for Evans, Nuikore off the bench for Brown .Smith stays on the bench. So we finish the game with Brown, Jnr, RCG, Nuikore, and Mahoney all on the paddock.

    • I like this

      • What I liked about putting Lane in the middle, it forces him to run hard at the big men. Then when you put him back out to the left he retains that hard running style against the smaller men.

He's been running at the defence for weeks this change up gets his mindset back to running through it.

        • I get this Bup! It’s exactly what he needs  - I’m a huge Lane fan but  for whatever reason he has stopped running through the line - he has been reminding me of James Tamou’s earlier days where he didn’t use his natural Asset, his size, to run through the line and just stopped to let the line ‘have him’. Like running a sprint you have to eye off beyond the finish line.

It has to be confidence in Lane’s case as well- he is a much better player than he has shown recently and this will hopefully get his self belief back (maybe the hard way).

    • Whose Gillard?

      • OH Fa Cryin' Out Lound Monts, don;t you know nuffing about Orstayan Pollyticks?

The Miss Ogenius' ther will be NO tacks under my bed One.

  • It is not entirely clear to me if he was trying something different or had a plan to rest some players who have played big minutes all year.
