I trust BA's decision on this 100% and while I would have loved to see Hayne back, I don't blame him for going to the Titans.
I think as supporters of the Eels we have to collectively get over the Hayne bashing and look forward to what comes in the future.
He might come back one day in a swan song and I think all of us would love to see that, but let's stop bagging the bloke for making the best decision for himself that he could have.
r u kidding me? he is not welcome back mate. this leaves a very bitter taste in every Parra fans mouth.
Jarryd said we didn't?????? So what's going on
If BA is fine with how it played out then we all should be.
Completely agree. I like the idea of Manu Ma’u, Tepai Moeroa, Clinton Gutherson, Brad Takairangi and Peni Terepo staying with us. Also throw in Norman and the future is looking good.
So glad we got this bloke instead of JT. - Serious man crush I have. No wonder players sing his praises!!
from brad arthur thursday on hayne.
Hayne’s manager Wayne Beavis admitted on Wednesday night that St George Illawarra had tabled a formal offer to the code-hopper.
Eels coach Brad Arthur revealed on Thursday Parramatta could actually have matched the Titans’ offer if they’d wanted to.
Speaking at his weekly press conference at Pirtek Stadium, Arthur said he holds no resentment over Hayne’s decision to snub the club that developed him.
“If we wanted to, we could match Gold Coasts’ offer but we’ve got to consider where we are at with our playing group,” Arthur said.
“At the end of the day our offer couldn’t cut it with Gold Coast.
“He has to do what’s best for him. I’ve got a responsibility to the club and to the fans long term in making sure we put ourselves in a good space and a good place with our list. That we can retain everyone. I’m also accountable to this team and keeping this team together. I’m committed and we’re committed to the blokes that are committed to us.
“We have a bit of money to chase a specialist halfback for our squad.”
Arthur said he only found out his club had missed out on signing Hayne when his kids told him the bad news after seeing it on television.
It came as Channel 7 chief rugby league reporter Josh Massoud said something appears amiss about Hayne’s Titans deal.
Massoud told Triple M there appears to be more to Hayne’s decision to walk away from Parramatta than meets the eye.
