BA's bench rotation

Over the course of the the 1st month of the season, i've found BA's bench rotation a little strange. We seem to go much better when Mannah and Matagi are on the field. BA replaces them around the 20-25min mark and then we dont see them again until late in the 2nd half.

Can someone please explain to me why? Is there a reason as to why he waits so long to put htme back on the field?

  • The simple answer is we are missing the leg speed and energy of Edwards and Terepo who are both attacking forwards.  O'Brien, Gower and Alvaro are not strong attacking players like Edwards and Terepo and they are workers, not running forwards.  Ideally coaches prefer all 4 players on the bench to be attacking impact players who lift the intensity and speed of the game.  Due to injuries and suspensions we have been unable to have our best bench available.

    • When is Terepo back?
    • I think Vave fits into that category as well
So I'm guessing our best bench is Brown, Vave, Edwards and Terepo?

    • Yes, I've criticised Kaysa for that last game but I'll be honest, he has played well off the bench. Our forwards better have there shit together otherwise the Raider backs are going to place some points on us. Taka & Hoff also need to lift their game, defence & attack needs a huge improvement. I'll forgive Norman as he was trying hard to pull us out of trouble.
    • Agreed. Kenny and Peni bring a lot of energy when they get on the field, which is missing with our current bench. The team will be a lot better when they are back, probably at the expense of Alvaro and Gower. I also see Vave being a regular, with Frankie to miss out.

  • I think he played for Wenty on the weekend???

  • That is probably the best bench we can field this season.

      • Kaysa filled into that role well last year. he would come on with plenty of energy and was quick from dummy half. If Cameron King is fit he should slot straight in and have Kaysa on the bench

        • Kaysa is not really a utility player in that he can play multiple positions, re: forwards and backs, but he did give us a lift when he played as a running lock forward last year.  Unfortunately King is not up to NRL and we may have to wait for IDG to return to the top 13 before Kaysa returns to the bench as that impact player.

          • I dont think IDG will be back. He will be forced to retire.
