BA Review

I think the side over achieved this year.

There really isn't much between teams 2-11 in the comp and all those spots could flip around considerably next year so I hope we don't rest on our laurels and think we're better than we are. (like we seem to do in season everytime we come up against lower 'ranked' teams), and Semi will be a huge loss.

BA should be commended but i think there are obvious areas of his coaching that he needs to step up if we're to go to the next level.

- His love affair with certain players is obvious. Absolutely loves Kaysa. To the point he was willing to open up a semi final spot for him after not playing for a few months. We came up against a big pack and were extremely light on. Admittedly we lost a prop in the first 5 but thats why you have a bench. Mannah and Matagi played way for minutes then they'd been used to and it showed. The only way you could bring Kays into that team was if you had front rowers that could play big minutes. We didn't have Tepai to shift there as we have been, Mannah give you about 25 mins a game, and Matagi hadn't been playing much more. It was a terrible selection and contributed to us being knocked out.

- Promotion of juniors. In the time BA's been here we've seen Twal, Fuimaono among others debut for other clubs. The only player who has debuted under BA is Bevan.

- Positions within the backline are specialist positions. There aren't many Gutho's in the comp who can play a variety of spots effectively. At a pinch you could get half a game out of Auva'a on the wing but he has shown all season he is inept there. Defensively he is awful and he has no ability to catch a high ball. Amazing to me we don't have a better winger in the club than him in BA's eyes and worringly for the future we're losing our best one.

Overall, a good year but I think BA continue to develop like we expect of the team. Build on his strengths and fix up some of the glaring weaknesses.

  • I was away for the weekend helping on a camp with no tv and just a radio to listen to the game . But from what I heard Kaysa was as bad as ever . Why BA would include him in a team that's been firing without him astonished me to no end .

All I took out of what I heard was that if Moses isn't firing we've got nuttin . So why are we paying that other overrated hack $850K to stand beside him ?
    • Agree, Wiz! I really couldn't see the benefit of including Kaysa Pritchard on the bench. He did stuff all and when he did come on threw a forward pass from dummy half and was really a waste of a more important bench spot. Why Vave, Gower weren't pricked is beyond me.
    • Kaysa only played due to kings nerve damage he may not have been abke to finish the game.BA didint want to risk it in a semi
      Parallels H-Sphere
    • To stand beside Moses? U must be talkin about Benny Elias?

    • I like BA and there is no doubt he has done a great job this year but his decision to drop Gower & Vave for Pritchard & Terepo was absolutely disgraceful. What was he thinking?
  • I think Kaysa was included because of the risk of King injuring his arm again
  • I think brad found Alvaro i never heard of Alvaro i dont think he played NRL last year
    • ARNOLD S: Get It right mate. Alvaro made his way via NSW Cup. Arthur never found him. Alvaro did play some NRL last year, mainly off the bench. Many on here bagged him from the start saying he would never make it. We missed him Saturday night.

  • There are some good points you make. What we must realise that we had a soft draw. We played Melbourne once only (Again during SOO period) Roosters, Panthers and Cronulla once. We had 2 one point wins over Dogs and Tigers. With a different draw we may not have made the eight,.
However I am proud of the side and what they have achieved this year. I wouldn't be sorry if Scott and Hannah retired this year.
Having watched the 20s demolish Sharks last weekend I think it is time to use some of these players. Forget the crap they are too young.
I will be happy to get back to Parra Stadium and play ALL our games their in 2019. Forget ANZ altogether and the dollars they want to throw at us to play there.
Wouldn't it be nice to get some Sunday afternoon games at home for a change instead of the crap that channel 9 give us.

  • Tepai..? He came through NYC
