SMH covered some of it, but missed a few things:
1. In regards to Semi, BA said "We're definitely not out of the frame, in terms of him playing for our club again" (He brought this up unprompted)
2. In response to Preseason standouts, the first player he mentioned was Frank Pritchard. Said "he has a real determination about him'.
3. The second player was Nathan Brown who he said "brings that bit of aggression and he's got some real silky skills and football ability and we might get some more passing out of our forwards this year.
4. The third player mentioned was Matagi "he's going to be a real handful with the footy as well"
5. He said Gutho was the fittest of all of the team
6. We'll field a competitive team for the Nines and last years team probably wasn't the strongest we could have sent. We'll go with the mentality of trying to win it.

Brad said the same things about Hayne but when he wanted to come back Brad wasnt interested, Semi wants money, unless Brad has a change of heart and wants to compete with bigger offers he wont be coming back here and i doubt hed ever want to come back regardless.
I was VERY surprised by BA's comments. I mean they were unprompted, he just came out and said that. It's a weird thing to say when you didn't need to say it.
If they asked him "Would you have him back?" then fair enough, but the question was "Is the Semi drama a distraction for the club?"
My thinking on this is that with Semi in a sense the coach and team has a ticking time bomb with him. BA sees the value of him in the team and maybe little doubt disappointed in whats gone on with him leaving end of year. The question I guess is whether he is saying this openly in order to keep Semi happy and with no reason to do a walk out early.
Much still depends on the court case with him though, he cannot leave the country without his passport so calm waters for all in the next 5 odd weeks.
I agree. I also think BA plays a pretty clever game when it comes to leaving stars. Now i have nothing to base this on but I think he may have been a little relieved when the Gold Coast gazumped us with Hayne -that is more money to spend in several areas. With regard Semi, boy he is hard work, great player but bloody hard to manage effectively. Part of me would be a little relieved if I were in BA's position with regard to Semi as well.
Browns going to have a huge year and hopefully turn out to have a long future at the club.

Fuuui Brad a Fox, ive heard him a few times telling straight up porkies, good example was last year when he said he never gave Foran a warning and got upset at the talk of people saying it, but then Foran admitted it and he had to come clean and say he had actually given foran a warning.
No probs with that here, you have to make up porkies sometimes if your a coach but Brad can bullshit with the best of them with a dead set straight face.
