My guess is he is putting him in the team to rest the likes of Reed, Moses and D. Brown over the next few weeks. That or maybe one of them is carrying an injury that isn't being spoken about?
Yeah I agree with you. BA has stated before he doesn't like giving players a game off to rest, he just limits there workload during the week, so yeah JA would be giving D Brown, M Moses, R Mahoney possibly even Gutho a a 10-15 min spell at the end of the game. I don't think this is a fulltime thing, it's only short term, BA will change it down the track to having 4 forwards on the bench. My utility off the bench would be Cartwright he has the X factor
People would harp on about how terrible Gutho was when he first came to the club, and he's proved the doubters wrong.
Lane was the worst thing ever for so long according to our fans, and now he's routinely one of our better forwards.
Maybe this is the only way Eels fans know. To make a player overperform you just have to bag them out for long enough... So JA should be the next Cleary in a few years I guess.
Historically 19 year old halves have taken at least 2-3 years to find their feet in first grade. I watched a podcast with Cronk and Johns talking about what it was like when they first started and both said the first 50 games were a blur. The reality is JA is no different and will need time/exposure to feel confident at this level. That said, there is no doubt there is better options for our bench right now. To be fair to JA it’s a huge amount of pressure BA is putting on him to step up to first grade at the back end of the year for a club with such a huge and passionate fan base that is long overdue for a title/shot at the title
"There is supposed to be a level of balance here, but we seem to get most of the top 8 trams twice every year. The aim is to win as many games as we can, but the draws make this hard to achieve. "
"Agreed. We have basically just forfeited both Melbourne games. Parra v Melbourne used to be a big game, but fans need to believe we can beat them at their best to spend their hard earned cash. If we are in a position to realistically win every home…"
"Exactly. If we were the best team in the comp draw is irrelevant. There is no hit job on us, it is simply we are a big draw card on ratings and crowds so we play the other big draw teams."

BA never ceases to amaze

There are other better options availability if any of the three players you mentioned need a break or carrying an injury. THAT IS THE PROBLEM!

They did it with Moses too.

Hope JA goes well.
If one of the halves get injured he is next in line weather you like it or not so getting some more game time isn't a bad idea
