Arthur believes that with a full pre-season training for the position - under the eye of new trainer Ron Palmer - French is ready to slot into the No.1 jersey on a full-time basis. "Fullbacks clock up the most kilometres in the game so they do a lot of running. So we've had a big focus with Bev in terms of his work at training," Arthur said. "Clint Gutherson is probably our stand-out in terms of the fitness component part of it, Bevan is trying really hard to get up there with him."
Taka won't be moving the second row, and Norman will have the 7 jersey, not that it makes much difference with the linking halves system Arthur seems to be favouring.
Razor if Semi plays I'll be happy. I'm not so sure about his court case tbh. Au'au and Jennings will be good. I have worries about Semi and now we know he is moving on at seasons end....
this is assuming nathan brown and vave meet the expectations we have of them stepping up and being regular contributors. i hope so, but i'm a little pragmatic when it comes to our expectations of players at the start of the season. and that includes frankie p at his age.
alvaro gower terepo have all drifted in and out of wenty regardless.
let's just hope that competition for places becomes a good problem to have.
this culture here that players must play where fans think they should because they are their favourite players is abit irritating for me. i personally would have been happy to see gutho start at 1, and french given more time to mature, but am happy to see BA's comments today because he's monitoring their progress better than anyone else and the only certainty is change.
In reality fullback is the only position French is going to able to be a sustained success at. Modern wingers and centres are just too big physically for French to defend in those positions on a continued basis. As we saw last year, he was fine in some games but when he come up against big wingers it was try time on his side far too often. He is an outstanding talent but its fullback or nothing in my view unless he bulks up substantially which I don't think his body type will really allow.
"HFK, Fair point. Sure, we could. But balancing incoming youth with experience is almost a perennial issue. A constant cycle. It never really goes away. At least not for too long. "

Also if anything I think Hoffman would share some time at fullback if French is at risk of burnout.
??
that leaves au'va, george jennings, fogarty and will smith in wenty...unless taka moves to the backrow

we'll have to see with taka, it doesn't make sense to be playing hoffman $ off the wing as well.
them being? and why wouldn't they be named on the bench?
