Parramatta has been drawn to play the Roosters, Broncos and Bulldogs in their group. There have also been a number of new rules introduced or changed for the tournament. One is the use of drop goals for conversions. The full draw and list of rule changes are below:
Rule Changes For Nines
- Goal-kicks will not feature in the tournament with dropkicks taken in line from where the try was scored worth two points. Penalty dropkicks will be worth two points with a field goal in general play remaining at one point.
- Scrums will consist of five players from each team and will only be used in the event of a double knock-on or a mutual infringement.
- In the event of a successful 40/20 kick, play will recommence with a tap re-start to the kicking team 20 metres in from where the ball crossed the touch line.
- Matches will be re-started by the scoring team through a drop kick off.
- Referees will have the power to send players to the sin-bin for five minutes for foul play.
The NRL premier Roosters have been drawn alongside the Broncos, Bulldogs and Eels in a draw that will thrill fans but offer no easy introduction to Nines play for the respective coaches.

I cant wait for this tournament.
I've got a feeling we'll give this comp a shake. We've got a lot of players who can play ad-lib footy and are at their best when they do it. I think Semi should be one of our first picked here. His experience in Rugby Sevens will be invaluable.
Winner gets a couple of million dollars from memory Slip. That's some money that can go towards our redevelopment.
From memory we are contracted to send at least 3 "stars" to the tournament.
Who is classified as a "star" for our team I am not sure...
Our first grade depth is better than most clubs. If no one sends their proper NRL team then we'll have a good shot at this although I expect the Warriors to win.
We are required to send at least 1 member of our Top 5 to the tournament: Hayne, Hoppa, Sandow, Norman and the 5th I'm not sure. Might be Fui or Lussick.
