Assessing our chances through a comparison of sorts

Having whetted my appetite for the season through attending the recent training sessions, my interest in the upcoming season was heightened by watching the NRL club day. After watching the 2005 game against the Dragons I realised that this Parra team was our last minor premiers. Now I know it's almost like comparing apples and oranges, but I thought I'd put the current squad up against this minor premier team to see how we might expect to perform this year. Now I hate a team list blog, so I'm restricting this to the key positions.Fullback: Wade McKinnon vs HoppaHalves: Tim Smith and John Morris vs Sandow and NormanDummy halves: Riddell and Marsh vs Peats and IDGBy my way of thinking, the only area that 2005 might draw level with 2015 is at Dummy half. I didn't make a coach comparison because my opinion of BA is perhaps too high for a relatively new coach so I concede some bias there, and one must concede that Smith had a great record for getting teams into finals. So that being said, I remain positive that our squad has the potential to be finalists. Or am I just a unicorn making an invalid comparison?

  • Lol it's off season sixties we are all allowed to wear the unicorn hat. I really enjoyed that year, up until the loss against Nth Queensland in the finals. A worse finals game I haven't seen in a long while. If I remeber correct Hindy and Fui both had to sit the finals out. Anyway taking your comparison further

    Fui v Junior Paulo

    Cayless v Mannah

    Hindy v Mau

    Tahu v Champion/Taka/Crooks

Burt & Grothe Jnr v Robinson and I'm not sure who'll take the other wing spot

I'd have to say the 2005 team was a lot stronger overall, although you do make a valid point in regards to the spine.

    • A bloke called Semi Radradra will be on the other wing.
    • Bwahahahaha How can u forget Semi??

    • I didn't take it further for the fear of creating a team list! I reasoned that the spine would be a good starting point.
  • We would of won that year if it weren't for one man... Brett Seymour.... That tackle on Hindy in round 26 that fucked his knee was the end of our chances.... With Hindy laying injured on the ground, it was the quietest you would ever hear a packed out stadium. 2 games later we got beat 29-0 by the Cowboys.

  • lol

  • Remember piggy and pj making metres constantly and terrorising hope de gois and peats could do the same thing this year
  • 40 try assists? That'd be really nice.

  • I think this is our year. I like the look of our squad and BA has a side that is his.

Glad I got my season ticket because I think we are going to tear up the comp this year.

  • De Gois and Peats will be a waste of a bench spot.... Peats is an 80min Hooker... I reckon De Gois will be Wenty's hooker.
