Asbestos at Castle Hill High School

Anyone got kids at Castle Hill High School?

https://www.change.org/p/castle-hill-high-reported-today-that-more-asbestos-exists-in-the-school-even-after-recent-claims-it-was-safe-all-schools-need-independent-asbestos-investigations

Not sure what the truth is but if anyone has information woud be good if you can share it. I would like to know if it is safe or not.

  • To be fair mate, most old schools are full of asbestos, the shits everywhere from ceilings, walls, old light fittings, in cement render as a filler and strengthener, in old concrete irrigation pipes, old concrete plant pots, roofing, its endless.

  •  I know a teacher at Castle Hill High. I txt him a while ago when old mate Ray Williams MP came out with this.

He said "All good mate. It's a bit of a media beat up" He also said "The shit thing is, I'm sure there's teachers completely unaffected that are probably rubbing their hands together for a pay out"

No big deal, I just had a quote today for $5500 to remove my asbestos eaves and correctly dispose of them as we are renovating. The stuff is everywhere in older buildings and is not a problem until you drill into it and get smal fibers into the air that you then breath in. I have drilled hundreads of holes into asbestors eaves over the last 30 plus years in my business, no probs with my lungs and I have had a chest x-ray and other tests. Best don't be a smoker with tar and shit in your lungs, they are the people who suffer the most from asbestos. Children will be just fine.

  • its a beat up for sure. just about every single building built in the 20th century before 1980 and then heaps more after that date, has asbestos, Hospitals, Child cares centres, community halls, navy ships, govt buildings. It is literally everywhere, most house eaves, kitchens bathrooms are full of it, cement fibrous walls, fences all have it, the old insulation on pipes.

Its not great and who knows when we are able to get rid of it all, but it is still everywhere.

  • I would be more worried about that Killer Vaccine then Asbestos

  • Spent a couple of years in the late 80s there

    no problems to report

  • As long as it remains undisturbed there's virtually no chance of having health issues.

  • Thanks for the comments.

The concern was that some teachers had been complaining that possible asbestos dust had been falling on them and claims that air monitors this year showed 6x above max safe level.
