I heard today that Australian Rugby Union are about to make huge bids to sway Matt Burton and Joseph Suaali across to union to play for the wallabies for the Rugby World Cup.

I also heard that they will be making a play for others not just Burton.  I love rugby but the types of Burton and Suaali will give the game a lot more flair and charisma that the game is currently lacking!  The depths of Australian rugby in key positions is whinging and this could be a game changer for both codes.

I wonder if there are any players in the eels team that would be considered?  Penisini or Moses would be great at Union!

  • Sorry about the spelling mistakes.  Sausage fingers typing on an iPhone!

  • Have the powers that be in Australian Rugby not learned their lessons.

Apparently not. In any event, the days of the ARU being able to outbid NRL clubs has come and gone. Super Rugby franchises simply can't match the money that NRL clubs can offer, so the players in question would be relying on extra money for Wallabies appearanes just to even compete with the average NRL salary.

    • I think Suaali comes from a union background?!

Rugby World Cup in Australia.  Money will not be an issue?!

  • Burton would be a great fullback in union with his long boot.

Could possibly see them having a dig at Latrell Mitchell too.

Only Eels players I could see them interested in are Jnr Paulo, Matterson and Waqa Blake.

  • Only Dylan Brown.
