On Volkman, It sucks how we are letting him go for an overrated half in Luai. My prediction is Penrith will pick him up.
This raises even more questions about Joash - having a really solid half backup is so key for a team (especially one with Moses in it).
I really rated Volk as that backup, and he seemed happy to be there and play that role. I wonder what our plans are...
Lorenzo surely is the backup 5/8 next season.
Fletcher should be back up 7 also.
I think Ryley smith also has some experience in the halves, not a bad option as backup as well
Ryles said he hopes Volkman stays. I think the sticking point now is not we don't want him. I think we do but his value to us is different to what he values himself. He would want to start while we see him as a back-up, well at least for 2027.
If he cannot get a deal he could stay but don't blame him going.
Thing is what club would sign him to start in their halves ? Maybe the bulldogs ? Most clubs pretty set with combinations now. Maybe west's could try him ?
If he is to sign somewhere it is to compete for a starting spot. Maybe the Wests Tigers have a stab at him to compete for either halves role.
Volkman is a solid half but he's not in the same realm of a luai, understand eels doing what they did but also hope volkman finds a team he can start for as well
Volk is a solid backup but don't see him as a long term half. Talatina and fletcher I see as having a higher ceiling and they should be our cup halves next year.
Because of one year with Liao if the club is letting Volkman go it means a few brain cells missing within the club
