Arthur Shuts Down the Milf

Parramatta coach Brad Arthur has shut down reports that his club is set to sign maligned Broncos playmaker Anthony Milford.

Reports emerged in recent days suggesting a Milford move to the Eels was imminent, but Arthur says he can’t see discussions going any further with the 27-year-old.

“As a club were always looking to improve our roster,” Arthur said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“We’re very, very happy with the roster we’ve got.

“In regards to Anthony, he’s a quality player, but it was only a minor discussion early in the piece.

“I can’t see it going any further.”

With Milford likely eyeing off the Eels’ 14 jersey, Arthur was asked if he wasn’t following through with the deal because he felt he had enough quality in that role already.

“Hence why my interest is not great in moving forward with it,” Arthur replied.

“We’ve got a lot of players who have worked extremely hard in this team.

“We preach hard about what DNA we stand for and what we preach as a club, we’re all in this together, we’re very tight.

“We’ve had a squad that was able to get us into this position and I feel like we’ve got a squad that can take us forward

“We have a couple of blokes that can play that utility role for us in Bryce Cartwright and Will Smith, so I feel like my loyalty is to them.”

Brad’s son Jake Arthur is also a current playmaker on Parramatta’s books, and the coach was asked whether giving his son further opportunity at first-grade level had anything to do with not signing Milford.

“As for Jake, he’s just a young kid learning his craft,” Arthur said.

“He’s probably fortunate that he got a few games this year, we weren’t expecting it.

“The decision around him and Anthony has nothing to do with it, it’s more around blokes who have been around here for a while and can play a role as a utility.”

  • Take it from me never trust a MILF rumour 🤣

  • hahah I think your more excited that Will gets more airtime. 😮

    • You would be correct

  • Listening to the interview, I am not sold Moses will play against Raiders.

  • Yeah the old MILF has a reputation as a lazy bugger on the training track - not what our club needs to let him take a spot he hadn't earned

  • Nice dodge on the JA question...

    • Didnt he say JA is still learning and lucky to have played a few games they werent expecting and JA has nothing to do with Milf decision?

      • Yeah he's a politician.

Just like he had no other option to cover Moses or Drown.
