arm grabbing stats

I'd like to see total arm grab tackles introduced as an official stat. We would be killing it.Feeling like an implosion is on the cards. Our line speed didn't run out for the second half.

  • We've still got good linedpeed but Penrith are beating it with offloads.
    • We are 30% slower that the 1st half. Regarding offloads refer to previous arm grabbing comment.
  • Here we go. Dumbest fu.kers in professional sport. You know what's going to happen every week. We show positive signs then shit ourselves.
  • The arm grabs were to try and stop the offload. There's no point hitting the ribs and driving them if they're just going to chuck the ball out the back and run through the gap you've made in your own line. What we needed was for the whole defensive line to stay up with the tacklers until the tackle was complete. I think the non-involved defenders were too quick to get back the ten. It's good to be ready for the next play but you have to finish the current one first. That means staying up until the attacker is held.

I guess a few of our guys just don't have the stamina to maintain that kind of effort. Scott and Foran do though.

    • Another reason for the quick retreat could be due to our players knowing that they'll get penalised for some form of wrestle on the ground. We're usually told to immediately get off the player and if we don't then it's penalised, we aren't often granted the leniency that opposition teams get.

  • Some good points there. Don't get me wrong I'm happy with the effort for 70% of the game.

But I think we could all see our intensity / execution wasn't there for the 1st 20 mins after half time and that coincided with penrith getting back into the game.

Then you could see us mentally and physically step it up again (which we havent done recently) to kick again. Any wonder Brad Arthur gets frustrated. He knows what we're capable of, but we still have these significant "switch-off" periods.

If we can tighten up the hinges mentally for 80min the wins will come.

"If Ryles had the players he wanted we would have been firing on all cylinders. But since we can't sign anyone to improve the other players around them, stick around for more false flags like this."
