Are we mentally tough enough?

Week in week out the top teams are mentally strong in attitude and intensity for eighty minutes, we are not. Is B.A. unable to coach this mental toughness or do we need to recruit a couple of hardheads to drag the rest by example.

    • Fair point, hence my suggestion about the buying of one or two players that lead by intensity for eighty minutes. Junior would be frightening if B.A. could coach a leadership intensity into him.

  • We have no leaders

  • Just watching the last of the Bulldogs manly game for SuperCoach interests only. Can’t believe how much those teams get away with things we get pinged for every time. Bulldogs got a away with head highs, laying around etc. Glad Manly won despite the best efforts of the refs to help bulldogs back into the game.

We lack the mental toughness to fight the constant ref bashing we cop

    • Same with the Melbourne Storm and how much they get away with holding down opposition players directly in front of the ref.

  • Look at Craig Bellamys press conference this week. He takes no shit and will drop anyone who doesn't perform. Ba needs to do this now and constantly.

      • After last week a few

      • I worry this us what B.A say's. The answer is anybody that does not put in consistently for their ability.

  • Or he says about there attitude. Dropping them for a week or two will show it's not on. After the Raiders game ba should of put the team on notice. You play like shit than you won't be playing first grade. 2 weeks later they do it again and nothing changes. Time for him to put the crunch on them and if they are serious professionals they will respond. I bet Bellamy just warning his players will make them come out this week on fire.

    • I think you are on the mark Cranky Brad but B.A. appears to me to be a cautious coach who won't change to much.

  • Seth Hardy, Personally I believe we've had a soft underbelly culture for yonks. Since 1987. It changed for a while from the 1990s when we recruited some tough nuts leaders with skill and class in Pay, Dymock, Jason Smith, McCracken and later Hindy and Cayless came to lend a hand. Fergo is a Godsend; but, we, our recruitment team, still need to recruit a few more tough nut leaders from a winner's culture, to reinforce a cultural change.
