Are we lacking creative flair?

Last night Sterlow and that were sayin that we were predictable in attack. I Heard em say, hit up, hit up, second man play. That is boring i reckon. WHY? Because other teams do more in attack. Now when I used to play down at the local G Reserve we did heaps of different moves. not only was there the hit ups but there was the old run around and the cut out pass!! I also remember this kid (tall blonde hair) would do little grubba kicks behind the line after he done goose steps all around the park. Then there was that kid Gutsy who done heaps of dummying and run arounds. Point I am making is that we need to do something different in attack. Am i Way off par here???

  • 3rd worst attacking team in the comp says alot about our attack i think

  • Yeah and our side does have players out so there is an excuse i reckon.
  • Ofcourse we are, look at our 1,6,7 and 9. You can't expect much creativity from 100k players. Gutho isnt a 6. No wonder why Brad didn't Re-sign Gordon.
    • Wild Eels, other than no.7 opening, no.9 is an interesting one for 2017 & beyond. IDG has been solid & tough for us overall (despite his lack of creativity). I like Kaysa's toughness & speed , when he's not injured (though he seems to enjoy running a straight line into brick walls). If he gets smarter & more creative about his play, mixes it up, we may of yet see the best of him. Also, wonder if there are still plans for Cameron King (or Cornish) ?
  • Yes you are way off. If this was our full '16 team I'd agree, but our attacking players are not there ie our two halves. We've also had issues trying to keep our centres on the field which puts a strain on our forwards because we then put Manu in centres.

I really don't expect too much in attack. What I was disappointed in was our defence.
    • +1 TBUR. Defence was poor in many patches., esp. second half.
  • Honestly the players are mentally exhausted from this season, i wouldn't expect too much more these last few games.

    • Couldn't agree more.
  • Rob nut. I agree. When I played at the park Fetty Confetti would run rings around Gutho even now. Great winger but not a pivot. We had this one kid that used to chase us with a broom. He was from the Med region but boy That forced some moves
  • R Robbo, yes, we are lacking creativity at the moment.

In the same series of paragraphs the Nine commentators made those remarks one of them also added 'they haven't had their halves'. That's one ingredient missing.

Last night we were also lacking defensive resolve in patches, , up against a determined Broncos team whose season was hanging by a thread - so creativity would of helped, but, wouldn't of changed the ultimate result.

I think we shouldn't lose hope for 2017 yet. Once we get Norman, Taka, Semi, Scott, Vave on field & hopefully a quality half ( & eveb other bonus signing? ) & regain our defensive attitude that we've shown we're capable of, that's the starting point. Then I think we would be capable of improving our creativity over time.
