I've been keeping a close eye on the Cows lately and I don't think they are playing bad by accident. To me it looks like purposeful tanking. The mistakes and lack of effort in tackles looks like a team that doesn't give a rats arse. We on the other hand play like we care, we just don't have the cattle / coach / tactics to get the job done.
Do we think this it's possible players could chuck a season for some motive, like getting rid of the coach, or saving the body for next years transfer to a new team?
Previously I didn't think it possible, but watching the cows tonight I'm convinced some of the mistakes aren't accidental. Maybe I'm becoming a cynic.

Have you been watching the cows play?
I reckon weve been playing just as bad mate, probably worse.
We prob have mate. But we don't have the multiple origin / internationals they do. And, we seem to give a crap. If the cows wrote a book to the NRL right now it's be called "We're just not that into you".
It suprises me as well. They have one of the most powerful rosters in the league. Maybe a couple of their stars may me a bit old but so are Melbourne's.
They f*cked up big time letting Ponga go. If he was around they would be in the top 8. One of the biggest f*ckups since the Dogs let Thurston go.
It just happens some times, you just have a sh*tter of a season.
You can't take anything away from them. Made the finals 7 years straight. Played in 2 GF's, won one.
Yep, great record in recent times, hats off to them. Do you think its just 14 rounds of bad form only though? Any chance they've mentally just chucked it in?
They definitely are playing like their heart isn't in it but I think they have absolutely no chance of getting rid of the coach that just signed an extension. Maybe they were not happy with the coach at the start of the season which affected their effort and now with the season gone they are unable to muster the desire to fight.
I wonder what happens in 2019 if the first 5 rounds are like 2019. Yeah the Paul green extension is interesting. There was a lot of funny business in the contact negotiation. PG was stalling like a Mitsubishi Sigma on a winters morning. Perhaps the players go a bit pissy about his apparent lack of commitment.
Is this about the Bronco's next coach saga? I thought he had already commited to extend before the Broncos started sniffing his arse.
I don't think it was just broncs. I remember reading PG was holding out to some %of earnings on top of base salary. That might have nothing to do with anything, but the whole attitude of the Cows just doesn't look Cow'ish all season.
