I'm not feeling devastated by the loss though. There was a lot of good stuff happening on the field tonight and there is heaps to be encouraged by for the season ahead.
people at the nrl and archer himself need to be told by people like us that its just not good enough
he will be a protected species this week and its just not good enough!!!
Of course, the reverse wasn't true in the second half when the Smerge kicked the ball into Ben Smith (that was 6 more) and the penalties for elbows in the ruck were utterly arbitrary. I didn't think Archer cost us the GF last season but he did cost us this game. It's unfortunate when 20k show up to a game of footy only for it be arbited by an imbecilic referee.
That said, some positives. Our offload play seems to back and a result involving 2 tries apiece against an obvious title contender in our first fixture is a good result. We defended well despite wave after wave of undeserved Dragons attack leaves me quietly contented and provided we improve our marker defense, I think tonight's game lays an exciting marker to what should be a season that meets our high expectations.
I go to nrl games to watch two teams battle out for 80 minutes and see the best team win. Not to see a fag in a pink top want to act like a cop on the field throwing his authority all over the ground and thinking he has the right to dictate which team should win a game. Just Ref the rules and let the players score the points.
