Although it's early days Tad, I feel Souths will struggle - adding more responsibility for cody Walker in terms game management takes away from his natural .Souths playing a similar style to last year won't cut it, they look predictable
Thanks Mick . The channel 9 commentators seemed a little excited about the game and I was wondering what I was missing---lots of improvement needed from both sides. Souths were grand finalists last year?
Yes Tad, alot of pressure on the young Souths halfback, looks like Cody Walker to halfback and Latrell to 5/8. No creativity amoungst the Souths forwards and they reply on them big shifts to strip numbers on the edges that play didn't look as effective tonight
Broncs had a short engagement with Siebold, Dumped him for Walters who also seems to have struggled to get Broncs up to where they were customarily on the ladder. The loss of Bennet with Souths seems to have made a difference to how Souths played tonight. Loss of Reynolds also would not have helped. A lot on this site {me included at times} questioned hanging on to BA over the last couple of years. when our performance was questioned. Maybe it is worth considering how a club can change and go backward with these types of changes or whether it is better to look at how you can make improvements with support and attitude change with coaches to continue on a growth process rather than making radical changes. A lot also depends on the personality and temperament of coaches who will accept outside interventions to help improve coaches' abilities in coaching rather than sacking them and starting all over again with a new coach. Coaches with inflated egos can self-destruct
Sounds like our club may be on the right path with changes to thoughtful coaching supports for BA by hanging on to him and better managing supports for BA. Time will tell. I think the Storm, Roosters and Panthers are holding onto their coaches and maybe having the right approach by retaining coaches who may have the right qualities to be open to qualitative inputs to progress performance. Maybe something to consider with selecting coaches. Stability with staffing and growing them rather than looking for short term replacement fixes
"Potentially 0-4 or 1-4 to start the season could knock the confidence right out and being at home after that could mean little.
If we can manage 2 wins from that first 4 we will be in a good position so there is a benefit if you manage to play good…"

Based on this snorefest of a game, I don't see either of these two teams making the top 8.
South's are like a chook with its head cut off without Reynolds.
The Donkeys are as average this year as they were last year but may come good once Reynolds is on the field for them.
One things for certain, the standard of referring hasn't improved this year. Kelly was 5 metres offside when he scored that intercept try.
The refereeing is terrible already this year. They need to get rid of the 6 again rule.

Everyone was telling us how good this new Souffs coach is, how little Bennett's influence was , and how Reynolds is shit and won't be missed.
Reynolds will be the buy of the season
My money's on Nicho Hyndes at the Sharks.
He will be right up there too Rup, gun player.
