I'm curious to get others reasons why Brad Arthur had 4 players on the bench and for the past 2 weeks has only used 3 of the players for a 1 loss 1 win record. I'm fairly certain this is not the only time the coach has done this. I've also noticed that on many occasions the coach also has given bench players very little game time. I'm curious to know what is the possible logical reason behind this strategy. Is it beneficial or basically stupid.

To justify JA getting splinters on the bench for 80mins. Jokes aside, BA needs help with bench rotations and selections if we are going to play with 16 every week.
He has no live feel for the game, interchanges are premeditated. Point in case is when he said in an interview when Nathan Brown would be coming on and off in his comeback game.
I agree Bert that Arthur's use of interchange is very much appearing pre meditated with little logical reasoning behind it. I couldn't see Brian Smith doing this as Smithy was a very tactical brain
The Nathan Brown thing may very well have been a sports science thing. Like the training staff told him that Nathan would only be able to play a certain amount of minutes to limit the risk of injury.
BA has said a few times now in interviews - He wants Nathan Brown on the field, but is being very cautious with him & building up his mins due to the surgeries, lack of preseason, injury history, and the fact that Brown is so important to us.
So when it comes to N Brown, this has been answered directly from BA himself.
Strong possibility but he probably needed to ease into the game.
not sure what you mean by "ease them into the game". In most cases, the sports scientists/physios will give the coach instructions of get them out there on full load but only xx minutes.
"easing" back into a game is not possible at the elite level and mostly, if not always, leads to further injury.
BA tends to play his 4th choice forward for very limited minutes against top teams. RCG and Paulo always play around 60 min against top teams.
To me, our best forward pack is:
8 Paulo
9 Mahoney
10 RCG
11 Lane
12 Paplii
13 N Brown
14 Perham/Stone/Carty
15 Maka
16 Matto
17 Niukore
We dont need a fourth forward because Matto, Niukore and Maka are arguably starting players who are also capable of very big minutes. So we should have Carty or Perham or Stone in 14 to cover the utlity role. Their minutes would soley depend if we need X-Factor or cover injuries. I dont see Kaufusi needing to be in the team over the likes of Greig and Rodwell who are signed long-term and have good potential. Kaufusi has been the same a for a couple years. A couple of promising signs but still has the drop ball in his game and is also leaving the team.
I'd like to see Greig, Rodwell get more game time and Perham
