Mate, I would say the best way to try and make contact with Sterlo would be via Channel 9. I would contact them first via telephone and let the receptionist know you're story - most likely she will give you an email address - then just write a good email (take a bit of time to think it through) and make sure you include all the good bits about how you and your dad are massive fans, you loved him as a player etc etc. I would be EXTREMELY surprised if you didn't get a reply.
I wouldn't bother trying to contact him thru the club - he wouldn't spend much time out west, and trying to contact him during telecasts is a bad idea - way to busy.
Channel 9 or Foxtel is the way to go - but I would go for nine.
Just on a side note, back when Smithy was our coach, for a few years I used to send him a letter via the club (snail mail, not email)at the end of each season thanking him for his efforts and commenting (always positively) on how we had gone that year. I always got a written reply back. Ah, to be young and enthusiastic again :))
Chances are that if Pistols approach him in the loo, he'd end up with another wet Sterlo poster....
