Danny Wicks didn't take any time at all. He made an impact from his first game back, and every game since then.
Yes, I agree that he isn't the leader we all hoped for. We need some cool headed superstar to give us direction and inspire the team to lift when we need it. Choc doesn't appear to be that man, neither is our actual captain, Mannah. I'm hoping it'll be Foran next year, but who knows.
I know it's really the job of the halves to direct things, but Choc still has his part to play in leadership. Perhaps he's meant to be our version of James Graham, Sam Burgess etc. A big forward to lift the team and inspire them. Leading by example and so on. He's certainly not been that for us. I still don't think he's doing that bad though - Just big expectations which he's not meeting.
Having said all that, it's difficult to tell with Choc, when the majority of players are letting us down in their consistency and performance + his big expectations etc. I'm almost getting tired of talking about it... talking about the potential of our team and how certain players aren't delivering, hence the losses. Ugh.... coming up with excuses and reasons for why we can't win. Yet we beat Souths, which shows the potential we have, then get smashed by others
Once again no where near good enough.
I hope Foran doesn't follow the same pattern as Lussick, Hopoate and Choc.....
Sign a 'good' player from Manly on big money, expecting them to perform at the same level for the Eels...
Does the same apply to Brad Arther?
Hey Slip,
never was a fan of the Watmough signing. Watmough's use by date has expired in 2014. He offers a lot of stiff run-a-walk and lots of frustrations when players go by him. I think Parra has the players already in Junior, Wicks, Mau, Gower, Terepo, and our Captain fantastic Mannah to defend and match other forwards in attack. What's lacking to bring this together is an organization halve and a good coach. We also need a full back and I would play Hoppoate in the second row and move Tep out in the centers.
I would like him to pay us a refund of at least half his reported wage
NEVER!!!
When we're out last decent ones??? Probably the Bulldogs 4 in 96. They turned out to be great buys.
Makes me worry ( a lot ) about Foran.
Can you please tell me why, when the Eels had Pete Nolan employed at the club, and as I regularly spoke with Pete both at the club and on the phone, you guys would always bag him in regards to the signing of established 1st Graders, and I would always argue that those signing were the job of and made by the head coach at the time, but now it seems the same established 1st Grade signings made since Mr Nolan left the club are all the fault of the head coach??? So please Fong - Snake, who is it making these signings?
