  • So the interesting point out of this is that you can't challenge a "no call" by the ref, i.e. if the ref doesn't stop play, you can't challenge. So Gutho broke down play to cause a stoppage, thus he could then challenge. Can't wait to see this loophole snowball over the rest of the season.

  • What hoodwink, it was clever 😉
Just Nic off annersley - was Teddys clever call examined!?

its not guts fault they spotted something else

besides recall a similar thing happening against us awhile back - but that resulted in us losing the challenge and think someone ended up  on report as a result

    • Come on Macy, you know full well that those rules are only meant to be stretched if you are a Storm or Roosters player. We can't have Eels players exposing gaps in the rule book can we?

      • Yeah Longfin sounding like we best throw all our captain's challenges into Berts volcanoe ... bloody footy gods have an insatiable appetite when it comes to dishing up BnG favours.

  • I actually thought they used the captain challenge up before that

  • Firstly, it is nice to see some smarts being used by one of our players as we aren't usually known for that.

But yeah I was sure we got our challenge wrong early in the game, so why did we get another one? Same thing happened with the Storm the week before.

    • I thought the same thing, but apparently we got to retain our challenge as the original issue we challenged for was unsuccessful, but for an entirely different reason to the infringement we challenged. So therefore my understanding of these (confusing) rules are that we only lose the challenge if it's for what we challenged for, not something that the review picks up.. if that makes any sense 🤔

  • Gutho's football brain - that's X factor

Gets bagged for trying to hard after saving a try earlier and setting the next one up with some smart thinkIng both critical to us winning the game

      • Not sure what your definition is for X factor - mine; something extraordinary that leads to a successful outcome. It can directly from quick thinking or indirectly thinking then running, passing or kicking at the right time and right place.

If you would like to restrict the scope it is purely semantics and happy for you to apply your definitions it wont make either of our worlds greater or lesser i,e, your definition is equally valid

But either way whatever we call it it is a skill Gutho has and it differentiates him from many others

    • Angel, nice sentiments but can i put it this way.

Is our team better with Gutho at Fullback and Waqa at Centre.

or if we had a real xfactor player at fullback such as

      Tedesco Fullback Gutho Centre

      Turbo Fullback Gutho Centre

      Papanhauzen fullback Gutho centre

      Latrell Fullback, Gutho Centre.

Surely you can see that our team would be a more competitive team with an xfactor in it. No one is really suggesting Gutho be excluded from the team or the club.
